Car offered at:
bringatrailer.com/listing/1971-jaguar-e-type/
Sellers description:
McKinney, Texas
This 1971 Jaguar XK-E Fixed Head Coupe Series II was restored about eight years ago by its previous owner of twenty years. During the restoration, this car was gone through both mechanically and cosmetically, including new paint, new chrome and has less than 10k miles on the rebuilt engine. The car drives and shifts well according to the seller, and modifications are limited to interior sound deadening and a removed A/C compressor.
This Series II XK-E is very clean inside and out, and retains its original trim and wire wheels. A matching wire spare wheel is included, and tires appear to be mismatched front to rear. The white paintwork appears to be of a high quality and is the car's original color.
Chrome was redone at the time of restoration eight years ago, and the seller has provided several photos detailing the quality of the finish which can be viewed in the gallery.
The car's interior was largely redone during the restoration, though the bucket seats retain their original leather upholstery. Trim remains complete and in good condition, though two small holes can be seen in the glovebox door. While this car was equipped with air conditioning, the compressor has been removed and is included in the sale.
During the restoration Eastwood sound deadening material was added to the car's floors and tunnel.
The rear cargo area appears unused since the interior was refinished, with excellent black upholstered surfaces.
The engine is the original 4.2l XK I6 (number 7R-18973-9), and has been driven about 10k miles since rebuild. Underhood equipment remains largely standard, including the original dual-Stromberg carburetors, airbox, fan shroud and other fittings. This example is fitted with power steering. Records for the car are not included, though the seller has applied for a Jaguar Heritage Certificate.
The car is said to shift and brake well, and is said to be very smooth and quiet on the road.
