Engine: 6 - Cyl. Year: 1971
VIN Number: 2R28217 Exterior: Green
Vehicle Description: This is a 1971 Series II coupe in great original condition. A three owner car, the second owner bought it in 1972 and kept it until I purchased it in Oct 2002. At that time my intention was to keep it and restore as necessary over time, but my son's grad school comes first so I must reluctantly sell it. It is straight, rust and accident free. It has been garage kept and over the past ten years has only has periodic recreational use. The car is basically original and unrestored except as noted in the following.
It was repainted its original British racing green in 1992. There is some minor paint chipping, but all in all a very professional paint job in very good condition. When the car was repainted all rubber around the windows, doors and chrome was replaced and remains in good shape. All glass is free from chips and cracks. Chrome is very nice.
Tires have only a few thousand miles on them and chrome wires are in excellent shape. The interior is original dark green leather with norman wear and some cracking on the seats. Dash is in fine condition with a few small cracks on the underside above the glovebox. The back deck is very nice with no tears or cracks. The headliner is in excellent shape. All gauges, switches and knobs are functional, with the exception of the air conditioning. It was not blowing cold when I bought the car and to date I have not had it checked out. The clock works, but may lose a bit of time if the car sits for a while. The original radio has been replaced with an Alpine tuner/CD. I kept the original radio should you want it.
Oil pressure is 40+ at 2000 RPM and it does not overheat.
Since I acquired the car, the following maintenance has been done by a local Jaguar shop:
Replace clutch master and slave cylinder, replace dual mufflers, replace blower motor, replace ball joints, front shocks and tie rods, replace all hoses, belts and thermostat, pressure test cooling system, compression test (145/145/150/140/1458/135, replace motor mounts. It has a current VA safety inspection.
This is a fine example of an unmolested, original E-Type and can be used as an every day driver. I have attempted to describe the car as accurately as possible, but you should keep in mind that the car is 32 years old.
With 3 days 21 hours left on the auction the current bid price after 15 bids is US $7,600.00 (Reserve not met)

Car has been relisted: cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll
Seller's comment was: "The car is being relisted since the high bidder believed the car to be a 2+2 (which it is not) and has retracted his bid."
Previous auction had 30 bids to a price of US $16,300.00 (Reserve met)
Seller has also added the following info to the auction description: "Last evening I went over the car with a prospective purchaser and noted minor surface rust in the spare tire well and on the driver's side floor. Note that this is just surface oxidation and does not affect the integrity of the body."

Hello Stephen:
I recently entered my e-type on this web site. It is #2R28216! This date, 3/18/04, I entered an image on the page. It should be listed soon. Take a look. For sure, it's facinating that your car 's # is only one above mine.
Best regards: Donn

According to its accompanying Jaguar Heritage Trust Certificate, chassis 2R28217 was completed on May 26th 1970. Initially finished in British Racing Green with Suede Green leather upholstery, the E-Type was dispatched to British Leyland, New York on August 21st 1970. Acquired by its second keeper, R. Page Esq. of Washington State, two years later, he treasured the Fixed Head Coupe for three decades. Indeed, the Bill of Sale he prepared for his successor states that the two-seater was in ‘fabulous showroom condition’, having been repainted in its original hue during 1992 and subject to ‘routine maintenance at least every 3,000 miles’. Handwritten notes in the original operating, maintenance and service handbook chronicle a speedometer change at 94,355 miles on December 8th 1981 and indicate that the Jaguar has covered circa 111,000 miles from new. Repatriated and UK road registered as ‘EKH 527J’ by Northern Jaguar during 2014, they sold the E-Type to marque collector P. Otterburn Esq. the following year for £38,500. A capable and hands-on enthusiast, Mr Otterburn converted the Fixed Head Coupe to right-hand drive. As well as a new steering rack and dashboard, the process saw attention paid to the alternator, radiator, water pump, clutch, exhaust, pinion oil seal and brakes etc. In addition the interior was partially re-trimmed (new carpets, ambla and hardura), the twin Stromberg carburettors exchanged for triple SUs, the door / hatch rubbers renewed and the headlights converted to halogen. Much of the refurbishment was photographically documented via a USB memory stick which remains on file. Changing hands once more prior to joining the vendor’s collection during 2023, the two-seater was acquired to complement another Series 2 which he feared using since bringing it up to concours standard. Significantly improved over the past three years, the Jaguar has been treated to a new clutch and gearbox selector rod springs, wider 6J x 15J wire wheels and refurbished / balanced carburettors not to mention a thorough overhaul of its factory-fitted engine (crankshaft resized / polished, new bearings, bores honed, fresh piston rings, head skimmed, valve seats re-cut, new timing chain and tensioner etc). Starting readily upon inspection, this handsome and well presented Series 2 is only coming to market to help rationalise the seller’s burgeoning collection. Offered for sale with V5C Registration Document and history file.
