This 1974 Jaguar E-Type Series III roadster underwent refurbishment work by Muncie Imports & Classics of Muncie, Indiana, circa 2003 before being acquired by the current owners in 2004. The car is finished in British Racing Green with a tan soft top over Biscuit leather and powered by a 5.3-liter V12 fitted with quadruple carburetors. Shifting is through a four-speed manual transmission paired with a limited-slip differential, and further equipment includes a Bell stainless-steel exhaust system as well as 15” knock-off wire wheels. Inside, a wood-rimmed Nardi steering wheel is accompanied by an AM/FM radio and air conditioning. This Series III E-Type is now offered at no reserve by the seller on behalf of the owners with a recent service records and a clean Illinois title in the name of the current owners.

The car is believed to have been repainted in its current British Racing Green finish as part of the aforementioned 2003 refurbishment. It wears a tan soft top paired with a replacement top boot that was sourced in preparation for the sale. Further details include a forward-hinged louvered hood, uncovered headlights, US-spec bumpers, and a rear luggage rack.

The Series III E-Type was factory equipped with power steering as well as four-wheel disc brakes with inboard-mounted rear rotors. This example rides on 15″ wire-spoke wheels secured with knock-off spinners. The brake fluid was changed and 205/70 Vredestein Sprint Classic tires were mounted in March 2026.

The cabin features seats trimmed in Biscuit leather as well as a color-coordinated center armrest and door panels. Further amenities include an AM/FM radio and air conditioning as well as a sliding rear-view mirror and a locking glovebox.

The wood-rimmed Nardi steering wheel frames Smiths instrumentation including a 160-mph speedometer and a tachometer with a 6,500-rpm redline. An analog clock along with auxiliary gauges for voltage, coolant temperature, oil pressure, and fuel level are mounted in the center stack. The five-digit odometer shows 16k miles, approximately 4k of which were added under current ownership.

Rated at 241 net horsepower and 285 lb-ft of torque when new, the 5.3-liter V12 is equipped with quadruple Zenith-Stromberg carburetors and linked with a four-speed manual transmission and a limited-slip differential. The seller tells us that the engine and transmission were reconditioned as part of the refurbishment project. Work in March 2026 involved cleaning and tuning the carburetors as well as changing the engine oil and clutch fluid.

The car is further equipped with a Bell stainless-steel exhaust system.

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
