private Sale

Aarhus, Denmark

A refined classic V12-powered grand tourer, this left-hand-drive Jaguar E-Type Series 3 2+2 FHC combines the model's iconic styling with effortless long-distance touring ability.

It is powered by a naturally aspirated 5.3-litre V12, delivering power to the rear wheels through a three-speed automatic transmission.

Originally first registered in the US in September 1973, the car was subsequently imported to Denmark, where it is now registered with Danish number plates.

It has been with the seller and the reportedly fourth owner for six years.

During the current ownership, the seller reports that the car has benefited from extensive restoration work, including renewed chrome trim and a completely new leather interior fitted in 2013.

The odometer indicates 37,126 miles, though this is not warranted.

Equipment and features

This E-Type Series 3 V12 2+2 FHC is finished in the attractive shade of Imperial Maroon, over a cream leather-trimmed interior, featuring a contrasting black dashboard and transmission tunnel, as well as chrome trim highlights.

It rides on a set of 15-inch chromed steel wheels with chrome hubcaps, fitted with Toyo Premium Touring whitewall tyres.

Equipment includes power steering, a three-spoke steering wheel, Smiths gauges, a Kienzle analogue clock, dashboard rocker switches, and an air conditioning system.

This example has been fitted with a Pioneer stereo.

Accompanying the car are one ignition key and one door key.

Condition

Please refer to the photo gallery to assess the exterior and interior condition.

Specific notes from the seller include: a small dent on the rear right-hand wing, a small paint chip on the left-hand rear quarter area, and minor sun damage to the dashboard.

The most recent Danish roadworthiness inspection was completed on 17 February 2020, with no reported warnings or advisories.

Service history

The seller states that the last maintenance was carried out in September 2025 at approximately an indicated 37,000 miles by Car Advice ApS. The work included the removal, dismantling and ultrasonic cleaning of the carburettors, reassembly with a new gasket, the replacement of the fuel hose, the cleaning of loose carburettor components, battery charging, and an anti-corrosion treatment. See invoice

In September 2023, the cooling system serviced, including pressure testing, new coolant, radiator cap, drain hose and auxiliary relay. Cooling fan control system repaired and battery charging system tested.

In May 202, the cooling system was overhauled with the installation of a new radiator, thermostats, temperature sender, overflow hose and associated mounting components. The system was refilled with fresh coolant and the automatic transmission fluid was renewed. A major mechanical service including replacement of key service and ignition components, fresh engine fluids and coolant, carburettor tuning, and inspection of the cooling, fuel and ignition systems was performed. Additional work included the installation of various new fittings and components.

The seller reports that a full service was completed during 2019, including engine, differential and gearbox oil changes, along with replacement spark plugs and a new ignition coil.

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
