Car of at auction in 2024:

collectingcars.com/for-sale/1973-jaguar-e-type-series-3-v12-roadster-12

1973 Jaguar E-Type Series 3 V12 Roadster

30/09/2024

55,805 miles (indicated)

RHD

manual

Lisarow, NSW, Australia

Engine Size 5.3L V12

Exterior British Racing Green

Interior Tan

This Jaguar E-Type is a classic 1970s roadster which has been carefully restored and sensitively upgraded.

It is powered by a naturally aspirated 5.3-litre V12, delivering a dyno-proven 201.5bhp through a newly replaced five-speed ‘ZF’ manual transmission.

This E-Type was originally delivered to the USA and went on to form part of a Dutch classic car collection.

It was then exported briefly to the UK before being purchased by the seller and exported to Australia, where it was restored, converted to RHD, and is now offered for sale.

The five-digit odometer displays 55,805 miles, which is reported to be the correct total from new, though this cannot be warranted.

Equipment and features

Originally finished in Greensand, this example was subsequently resprayed in British Racing Green now with a matching new green soft top over a new tan leather-trimmed cabin, punctuated by wooden inlays.

It rides on a set of 15-inch chrome wire wheels, secured with triple-eared knock-offs and fitted with Avon tyres.

Equipment includes a row of rocker switches for the car’s auxiliary functions, Smiths gauges, a locking glovebox, and a vintage-style radio.

Accompanying the sale is the owner’s handbook, a detailed workshop repair manual, UK export paperwork, import approval documents, a Jaguar Heritage Trust Production Record Trace Certificate, a NSW Transport engineering compliance certificate, various restoration invoices, a dynamometer print out, a current NSW Historic Certificate of Conditional Registration, a service invoice, the original 15-inch steering wheel, and a bespoke fitted indoor stretch car cover.

Restoration details:

Took place between 2019 and 2021 by Concours Sportscar Restoration

Resprayed selective paintwork mainly engine bay and for RHD conversion

New folding soft top in matching British Racing Green

Rebuilt engine with conversion to SU carburettors

Three-speed automatic transmission replaced with a new five-speed ZF manual gearbox with a Gibson driveshaft

Stainless-steel four-pipe ‘Classicfabs’ Jaguar E-Type V12 specifically designed exhaust with tubular branch manifolds was installed delivering a notable boost to both performance and sound resonance quality

Upgraded electrics

Refurbishment of all dashboard dials

Installation of modern Retrosound radio

Modern electric air conditioning

Floor-mounted drilled pedal box installed for additional legroom and faster gear changes

Chrome wire wheels with triple-eared knock-offs

Moto-Lita 13-inch wood sports steering wheel

Condition

Specific notes from the seller include: minor paint striations on the narrow scuttle below the windscreen.

The seller notes that the vehicle was previously resprayed in its current shade of British Racing Green and that the interior has been newly reupholstered, which included fitting new door cards and carpets.

There is a valid NSW registration in place, which expires on 4 November 2024.

Service history

The car was last serviced in February 2024 at 55,708 miles by Concours Sportscar Restoration, who carried out a seven-hour service. This included thoroughly inspecting the vehicle, lubricating the internals of the tachometer, fixing the door top trim, and replacing the engine oil, oil filter, and front brake pads.

Spam prevention question (must be answered):
The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
