This lovely 1970 'E'-Type is a 2+2 4.2 coupe example which has been in the possession of its present private owner and vendor for the past eleven years. Over the last six years it has completed a full nut and bolt rebuild, for which all the invoices are available and total over ú16000. This work has included the restoration of the body including new body panels where necessary and a new interior trim. During the last eighteen months we are also informed that the engine and the transmission have been fully overhauled as well and since then very little mileage has been covered. The invoices for all the work carried out are available as well as a full photographic record of the rebuild.
It was originally a left hand drive car which was converted to right hand drive during the restoration and it has the three speed Borg Warner automatic transmission. This is a stunning example and what value for money.

Finished in white with a beautiful red leather interior, this particular example has been converted from left- to right-hand drive. Reputed to have had in excess of ú17,600 spent on it since 2000 (with bills from last year alone totalling more than ú5,000), this practical E-type benefits from triple SU carburettors, three-speed automatic transmission, chrome wire wheels and a 'face-off' stereo. The subject of a speedometer head change at 59,000 miles, it is believed but not warranted to have covered just 76,000 miles from new. Said by the vendor to "look extremely well cared for", this pampered Jaguar is offered for sale with history file, MOT certificate valid until August 20th 2006 and historic class (free) road tax.

This particular Series 2 2+2 dates from 1970 and has the automatic gearbox which makes city driving much more pleasant. Originally a US market car, it was returned to the UK in 1994 and has had just three owners since, the current vendor having owned it for the last six years.

About 12 years ago it was treated to a very substantial restoration which reputedly cost over £20,000 with many bills on file. This included fitting many new panels including a new bonnet, plus a new fuel tank and a new speedo. The engine and gearbox had reputedly been rebuilt in the late 1990s but the bills for this could not immediately be located when we inspected the car's history file prior to the sale.

In 2005 the brakes and suspension were rebuilt and new engine and gearbox mountings fitted at a cost of some £1,500 (bills on file). There are also many bills for routine servicing since then. The car has only covered some 20,000 miles since the restoration was completed and it is said to drive very well with an MOT until May 2013. It certainly performed nicely when we were treated to a short test drive with a particularly sweet-sounding engine with excellent oil pressure.

Looking very smart in Old English White with a lovely red leather interior, this most practical and usable E-Type is being offered here at the price of a modest family hatchback - we know which we would prefer!

This 1970 Jaguar E-Type 2+2 Coupe bares the registration OBV 616H and is presented in white coachwork with a contrasting dark red interior and is fitted with automatic transmission.
