Auction description :

The European Summer Auction, Lot 128

Although little is known about chassis 889787’s earlier history, the accompanying file contains an old title from Washington, USA. At some point the E-Type passed through the Netherlands, before appearing in Italy.

An extensive restoration began in 2006 at Luzzago Classic Cars in Brescia, Italy. Images of the restoration accompany the history file and detail every stage of the process. After removing the clamshell hood, the body was completely stripped of paint, and the sheet metal was repaired where necessary. After priming, the Series 1 was repainted in a sleek black, which perfectly offset the refinished chrome bumpers and the new red leather upholstery. New wiring and a complete mechanical overhaul ensured that the Jaguar was ready for sale.

Immediately after the restoration was completed, the Jaguar was sold into the Richoz Collection.. It was at this time the odometer was reset to 0km – since this work was finished the E-type has driven just 2,677 km.

Considered by many to be one of the most beautiful cars ever made, a E-Type Series 1 3.8-litre Fixed Head Coupé is truly a must have in any collection, especially in such elegant colours.

Sold at €104,500

Spam prevention question (must be answered):
The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
