Rebuilt engine, transmission, and clutch by Larry Ligas of Predator Performance in 2022.

The following mechanical components rebuilt or replaced: aluminum radiator, radiator surge tank, starter, fan, oil pressure gage, alternator, fuel pump, brakes, brake and clutch master cylinders, steering seals, modern twist off oil filter assembly, etc. etc. all done in 2022.

New chrome spoked wheels and Vredestein tires in 2021.

New stainless exhaust and stainless header pipes in 2022.

Original steering wheel and radio.

Includes all original tools, correct vintage jack and hammer, owners hand books, owners maintenance books. Also, custom made wool seat covers that have been used for the past 35 years to protect the leather seats. Many misc. Jaguar books will be included.

ALL original parts that were replaced during the rebuild are included with the car. Original oil filter assembly, radiator, radiator surge tank, generator, fan, original spare tire and wheel in addition to a new one, etc.

I purchased this amazing car from the 2nd owner who owned it for 38 years and had the car judged at JCNA judging events for 12 consecutive years. It was his intent to keep the car ALL original. Even keeping the original DC radio. In 1984 he had the car repainted it's original carmen red with a laquer color/clear coat system. This is the only repaint this car has seen and this is the paint you see today. The paint is 40 years old and looks exceptional today. There are a few spots that show some minor blistering but overall the paint has held up amazingly well.

Shortly after I bought the car I trailered it to Sarasota, FL and had the engine rebuilt by Larry Ligas of Predator Performance. Larry rebuilt the engine, the transmission, and replaced the clutch. Larry has rebuilt well over 400 E-type engines in his life time and is considered one of the leading authorities on E-type engines. Larry is a very competitive racer with his heavily modified 1961 E-type Jaguar and he knows all the tricks when rebuilding these engines. He used all of the best components while rebuilding this car and no money was spared during this rebuild.

The number face plates on the side of the car are soft magnetic numbers and can be removed if so desired. I have taken a few pictures with these decals removed. The car comes complete with a wide assortment of books, manuals, trophies and awards, and 12 years of judging sheets from the 12 years of JCNA judging. If you are looking for a solid, very original E-type coupe, this is the car. I had the oil and filter changed last week as I have driven the car about 2000 miles since the rebuild and we did not see any oil drips or leaks on the underside of the car. A matter of fact I park the car on a clean garage floor without any oil drip pans or cardboard sheets…..LOL.

Lot #248574

This 1962 Jaguar XKE Series I coupe was restored in 1984, and following the work it was campaigned at Jaguar Clubs of North America (JCNA) Concours events, where it was judged for nearly 20 consecutive years and consistently scored 99+ points. It also earned multiple Best in Show awards and regional honors across the western United States and Canada. The seller purchased it in 2020, and subsequent service has included rebuilding the engine, transmission, and clutch. The car is powered by a 3.8-liter inline-six linked with a four-speed manual transmission and a limited-slip differential. Finished in Carmen Red over black leather, the car is equipped with enclosed headlights, a louvered clamshell hood, 15″ wire-spoke wheels, four-wheel disc brakes, triple windshield wipers, an AM radio, and a heater. This XKE Series I coupe is now offered in Minnesota with a Jaguar Heritage Trust Certificate, manufacturer’s literature, a tool kit, service records, spare parts, judging sheets, awards, and a Wisconsin title in the seller’s name.

The Series I E-Types were equipped with covered headlights and taillights mounted above the chrome rear bumpers. This example is finished in Carmen Red and was repainted in 1984. Additional equipment includes a louvered clamshell hood, wraparound chrome bumpers, a driver-side mirror, triple windshield wipers, a side-hinged rear hatch, and dual exhaust outlets. Paint blemishes and imperfections are visible.

Chrome-finished 15″ wire-spoke wheels are secured by two-eared knock-off spinners and are mounted with 185-section Vredestein Sprint Classic tires. Braking is provided by four-wheel discs with inboard-mounted rear rotors. The brake pads and calipers were replaced in 2021, and the master cylinder was replaced in 2022.

The cabin features bucket seats upholstered in black leather along with color-coordinated door panels and carpets. Interior appointments include textured aluminum dash trim, an AM radio, and a heater. The seller says that a replacement wool headliner and carpets were installed during the restoration. The pedal box was replaced in 2025. A set of sheepskin seat covers is included in the sale.

The wood-rimmed steering wheel frames a Smiths 160-mph speedometer and a 6k-rpm tachometer, while auxiliary gauges for coolant temperature, oil pressure, fuel level, and amperage are located in the center of the dashboard. The five-digit odometer shows 16k miles and has rolled over. The tachometer was repaired in 2025.

The 3.8-liter inline-six features triple SU carburetors and was factory rated at 265 horsepower and 260 lb-ft of torque. The engine was removed, machined, and rebuilt in 2022 by Predator Performance in Clearwater, Florida. Work included installing top-hat cylinder liners, Hepolite pistons, and competition rod bolts and nuts. Additional components installed or replaced during the rebuild included:

Aluminum flywheel

Crankshaft damper

Water pump

Aluminum radiator

Six-blade fan

Denso racing alternator

Spin-on oil filter adapter

External electric fuel pump

Stainless-steel exhaust system

Tubular headers

The valve cover gasket was replaced in 2025, and the oil was changed in preparation for the sale.

The cylinder head is stamped with R4737-9, which matches the number on the Heritage certificate.

Power is routed to the rear wheels through a Moss four-speed manual transmission and a limited-slip differential. The transmission and clutch were rebuilt in 2022 and the rear axle joints were replaced the same year. The clutch cylinders were replaced in 2025.

The car is accompanied by a Jaguar Heritage Trust Certificate, manufacturer’s literature, maintenance books, a tool kit, a vintage jack, and a knock-off hammer.

Assorted spare and removed parts are also included in the sale, consisting of the removed radiator, radiator surge tank, six-blade fan, and oil filter assembly, along with custom-made wool seat covers, removable magnetic side door numbers, JCNA judging sheets, trophies, and awards.
