For sale at Prestige Performance Collection of Sherston for £165,000. Seller's description below.

    www.prestigeperformancecollection.co.uk/used/jaguar/e-type/-/sherston/wiltshire/ ...

Presenting a truly remarkable 1963 Series 1 3.8 litre E Type that has undergone an extensive nut and bolt rebuild under the expert eye of Chatham's in 2011. This stunning car has been lovingly maintained with regular monthly outings, weather permitting and otherwise kept in secure storage. The time has come for this magnificent automobile to venture out into the world, as the owner no longer plans to embark on the continental journeys it was intended for.

Originally sold by Fattori and Montani in Rome, this E Type made its way to the UK and was first registered here in 2005. During the meticulous rebuild the current owner made two significant modifications to enhance the car's appeal. Firstly, larger wheel arches were added, reminiscent of the E Type rally car, allowing for wider rear wheels. Secondly, the once black roof was transformed into a vibrant red that harmonises with the interior.

This car, already considered one of the 11 best looking cars of all time according to the esteemed individuals at Goodwood is a true head turner that would captivate even non petrolheads. It is accompanied by a comprehensive album of pictures documenting the rebuild and a Jaguar Heritage certificate. An opportunity to own a piece of automotive history that combines aesthetics with craftmanship.

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
