1962 Jaguar XKE Roadster. Flat floor, welded louvre, #876258. Originally white, but painted red in 70’s. From Colorado in1974 to Billings Montana. Bought in ~1995. Rebuild on engine with no miles about 1990. Matching engine number but have not looked at transmission and rear end numbers. Has Hardtop, haven’t seen soft top. I realize now that the picture of the car in front of the shop in About 2005 that you can see the soft top. Car is in Everett Washington. My brother that owned passed away. Some new parts, wheels, spinners, leather material. Have clear title. Has been sitting and last run in 2002. Extra non-welded louvre bonnet.

This Jaguar was purchased by my brother in about 1996 in Billings Montana. He passed in February 2025. The previous owner bought the car in 1974 in the Denver area and brought the car to Montana in 1978. He worked on removing the drivetrain and rebuilding the motor and replacing the clutch in the early 90’s. While the motor was removed he stripped the paint on the under hood framework ( picture frame ) and around edge of cowl and the underneath side of body. Painted all the picture frame red as he was going with red for the color of choice. The car was white originally and also gold before becoming red sometime in the early 70’s. My brother bought the car as the elderly man saw he wasn’t going to finish the project. So it sits as is was in about 1993 or thereabouts with no miles on it since. Motor turns over freely. All bare metal around cowl and underneath is uncompromised. Haven’t verified numbers matching Moss gearbox and rear transaxle, but imagine originally installed pieces. Has a factory hardtop option but not aware whether came from factory on this specific body. No signs of repaired rust or any rust-through on the entire body. Some body damage on top of bonnet front right and right fender and older damage repair on right leading edge of cowl that looks like when car was white, so early damage possibly. Have pictures. Some replacement parts include 4 good used chrome spoke wheels w/ new spinners. Two new headlight lenses and chrome surround trim. Extra used non-welded louvre bonnet possibly bought for parts. I do not have a Jaguar Heritage Certificate. From my research it was built in early December 1961. The casting date on engine block is September 7, 1961. Body number in left rear of trunk, but no rivet holes or riveted tag on right front cowl.
