Full restoration project
First registered in the second year of E-Type production on 11th December 1962, this early chassis #861041 original right hand drive 3.8 litre coupé was recently discovered in a barn in the South of England by the now owner - a Jaguar enthusiast. What he found was an original UK car boasting its original supplied registration plate in need of full restoration but, nevertheless, complete with the all important 3.8 engine block, head and chassis all matching the original Heritage Certificate supplied from Jaguar. Our vendor was told that a vast majority of the parts are present and will naturally come with the car although some are in better condition than others and may require replacing. We would advise viewing to ascertain which parts are present and require replacing or restoration but are confident that any bidder would be excited by the prospect.
The original colour is the rare and desirable combination of Opalescent Maroon with grey leather trim, which remains in an unrestored, barn find condition and, upon inspection, some of the panels still retain original chalk marks from the factory. Supplied with the aforementioned Heritage Certificate and a V5C log book, it is now rare to find an early example of Jaguar's iconic E-Type at such a price and destined to be restored to a quality not seen since it first rolled off the production line.

Acquired in 2018 as a very original road car, chassis 861041 (original RHD 1962 car) was fully restored and race-prepared by Valley Motorsport to pre-63 specification. The build was completed in time for the 2019 Spa 6 Hours, where it debuted competitively in the MRL Jaguar Challenge, finishing P2 in the Pre-63 class. Subsequently the car underwent a further 18-month upgrade program at the current owner’s workshops, focused on weight reduction and enhancement of both engine and handling. Today the car is very much a front-runner in the ultimate pre-63 specification, still retaining its road registration and ideal for both racing and road rallies/tours. Current HTP until 2029.
