A sought-after and elegant classic grand tourer, this is an early Jaguar E-Type Series 1 Fixed Head Coupe.
It is powered by the 3.8-litre inline-six with triple carburettors, driving the rear wheels through a four-speed ‘Moss’ manual transmission.
The car presents with a well-documented provenance, including a matching-numbers chassis and engine, as confirmed by an accompanying Jaguar Heritage Trust certificate.
Built in 1962 and originally sold by a dealer in Staffordshire, UK, this car is also recorded on the HPI system as having spent some time overseas, and was re-registered with the DVLA in December 1980.
The car remained with its previous owner for 44 years, and has recently been acquired by its current and reportedly third owner from new.
The odometer indicates 48,735 miles, though this is not warranted.
EQUIPMENT AND FEATURES
Originally finished in Opalescent Dark Blue with a red interior, this E-type is now finished in Primrose Yellow complemented by a black leather and vinyl-trimmed cabin with textured aluminium trim inlays.
It rides on a set of 15-inch cross-spoke wire wheels with chrome two-spoke knock-offs, shod in Blockley tyres.
Equipment includes a wood-rimmed steering wheel, bucket seats, Smiths gauges, dashboard toggle switches, and heater and ventilation controls.
The car will be supplied with three keys, a Jaguar Heritage Trust certificate, the original buff logbook, and a large collection of invoices and receipts for past works.
CONDITION
Specific notes from the seller include: some age-related paintwork blemishes, a small paint crack near the driver’s side headlight, minor age-related interior blemishes and light imperfections on the aluminium trim on the centre console.
The seller notes that the oil pressure gauge is intermittently faulty, though this is not reported to affect driving performance.
SERVICE HISTORY
During the previous owner’s long-term care, the car underwent a full strip-down and restoration process, including a respray and interior refurbishment.
