My father bought this car in the 1970's and still owns it- it underwent a full nut and bolt restoration several years ago. If you have any information regarding the car's history please email me- I'd very much appreciate it...

Car now at auction:
angliacarauctions.co.uk/auctions/2763-20-Jun-2026/14659~1-1962-jaguar-e-type-series-i-38-fhc
Auction description:
Classic Cars, Motorcycles & Automobilia, Saturday 20 & Sunday 21 June
1962 JAGUAR E-TYPE SERIES I 3.8 FHC
Estimate: £40,000 - £45,000
V5 present
Chassis number: 860375R
Engine size: 3781cc
This is a UK-supplied Series I Jaguar E-type 3.8 fixed-head coupe, finished in its original shade of Opalescent Silver Blue, with a black interior and manual gearbox. It has been in the same family for 54 years, and the V5C shows just 3 former keepers. The odometer displays 83,941 miles.
The history file shows that an extensive nut-and-bolt restoration was undertaken around 20 years ago. More recently, in 2024 a total of £4896 was spent on various improvements including a new exhaust manifold, head gasket set and a full service. The car has been used regularly for classic car shows and rallies, and once featured prominently on the cover of Classic Cars magazine. Its last 3 MoTs were all passed with no advisories; the latest expired in 2018, although as a historic vehicle it is exempt from testing requirements. In addition to its receipts from 2004-on, the car is supplied with photos taken during its restoration, old MoT certificates and an original service manual.
The vendor inherited the E-type from his father, a local farmer who purchased the car in 1972. We're told that after harvest time he could sometimes be witnessed racing it around his stubble fields.
