This 1971 Jaguar XKE Series II roadster is believed to have been acquired in the 1990s by the late James G. Robinson, who in 1988 founded the film-production company Morgan Creek Productions. It was repainted by his in-house team circa 2008 while being kept as part of his collection. The car is finished in Pale Primrose with a black soft top over black leather and is powered by a 4.2-liter inline-six linked with a four-speed manual transmission and a limited-slip differential. It is further equipped with a louvered clamshell hood, four-wheel disc brakes, and 15″ wire wheels as well as a wood-rimmed steering wheel and a Kenwood CD stereo. This XKE roadster is now offered in Maryland by the seller on behalf of Robinson’s estate with the owner’s manual and a clean Montana title under an LLC.
The car is finished in Pale Primrose and is believed to have been repainted around 2008. Details include a black soft top, a louvered clamshell hood, sealed-beam open headlights, triple windshield wipers, door-mounted side mirrors, dual exhaust outlets, and wraparound chrome bumpers.
The 15″ wire wheels are secured by three-eared knock-offs and are mounted with 185-width Vredestein Sprint Classic tires with 2012 date codes. Braking is provided by four-wheel discs with inboard-mounted rear rotors.
The cabin features bucket seats upholstered in black leather along with a color-coordinated center console, door panels, and carpets. A Kenwood CD stereo is connected to speakers on either side of the central tunnel, and further interior appointments include a heater, a sliding rear-view mirror, and a locking glovebox.
The wood-rimmed steering wheel frames Smiths instrumentation including a 160-mph speedometer and a tachometer with a 5k-rpm redline as well as an analog clock and gauges for voltage, oil pressure, coolant temperature, and fuel level. The five-digit odometer shows 66k miles.
The 4.2-liter inline-six was factory equipped with dual Zenith-Stromberg carburetors and rated at 245 horsepower and 263 lb-ft of torque when new. Work in preparation for the sale is noted to have involved tuning the carburetors as well as flushing the fuel system.
Power is routed to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transmission and a limited-slip differential.
The seller is listing the car on behalf of an estate, and a representative of the estate will handle the transaction.
