Lot #213626

This 1973 Jaguar E-Type is a Series III 2+2 coupe that was acquired by the current owner in 2005. The car is powered by a 5.3-liter V12 paired with a four-speed manual transmission and a limited-slip differential, and it is finished in red over a black leather interior. Equipment includes 15″ wire wheels, four-wheel disc brakes, and air conditioning. This E-Type is now offered by the seller on behalf of the owner in Louisville, Kentucky, with an owner’s manual, service records, and a clean Kentucky title.

The car is finished in red and features a forward-hinged louvered hood, uncovered headlights, US-spec bumpers, a rear luggage rack, and a power antenna. The seller notes that the left-rear taillight is inoperative and that the passenger-side hood latch requires a specific technique to close flush.

The 15″ wire-spoke wheels are secured by two-eared knock-off spinners and are mounted with 185-series Dunlop SP40 tires. The car is equipped with power steering, and stopping power is provided by power-assisted four-wheel disc brakes with inboard-mounted rear rotors.

The 2+2 cabin features front bucket seats and a rear bench upholstered in black leather. An AM/FM radio and a locking glovebox are fitted. The air conditioning does not work.

The wood-rimmed steering wheel frames Smiths instrumentation including a 160-mph speedometer and a 6,500-rpm tachometer. An analog clock and auxiliary gauges are mounted in the center stack. The five-digit odometer shows 18k miles, approximately 3k of which were added under current ownership.

The 5.3-liter V12 features quadruple Zenith-Stromberg carburetors and was factory-rated at 241 horsepower and 285 lb-ft of torque. The carburetors were reportedly rebuilt approximately 200 miles ago, and the left valve cover gasket was replaced in 2016. The seller notes that the right valve cover gasket is seeping oil.

Power is sent to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transmission and a limited-slip differential.

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
