This 1972 Jaguar E-Type Series III left the factory as a 2+2 coupe and was converted to a roadster body style under prior ownership before 2007, and it was refurbished under current ownership between 2020 and 2025. Powered by a 5.3-liter V12 linked with a four-speed manual transmission and a limited-slip differential, the car is finished in black over cream-colored leather. Features include a black soft top, four-wheel disc brakes, power steering, 15” knock-off wire wheels, quadruple Zenith-Stromberg carburetors, a wood-rimmed steering wheel, air conditioning, and an Alpine CD stereo. The current owner purchased the vehicle in 2010. This E-Type is now offered by the seller—a BaT Local Partner—on behalf of the owner with service records and a duplicate California title in the owner’s name.
The car is said to have been finished in yellow from the factory, and it was repainted in black under prior ownership and again during the aforementioned refurbishment. Features include a black soft top, a matching top boot, uncovered headlights, a forward-hinged louvered hood, a driver-side mirror, bright trim, dual exhaust outlets, and chrome bumpers with overriders.
Chrome-finished 15″ wire-spoke wheels are secured with knock-off spinners and are mounted with 205/70 Firestone All-Season tires. The Series III E-Type was factory equipped with power steering, and braking is provided by four-wheel discs with inboard-mounted rear rotors.
The seating surfaces were reupholstered in cream-colored leather with black piping during the refurbishment. Interior amenities include color-coordinated door panels as well as air conditioning, an Alpine CD stereo, a passenger-side grab handle, a locking glovebox, black carpeting, and rubber floor mats.
The wood-rimmed steering wheel frames Smiths instrumentation including a 160-mph speedometer and a tachometer with a 6,500-rpm redline. An analog clock along with auxiliary gauges for battery voltage, oil pressure, coolant temperature, and fuel level are stationed in the center stack. The five-digit odometer shows 71k miles.
The 5.3-liter V12 was factory equipped with quadruple Zenith-Stromberg carburetors and was rated at 241 net horsepower and 285 lb-ft of torque when new.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transmission and a limited-slip differential. A Bell stainless-steel muffler is positioned aft of the rear axle.
The car’s chassis number—1S72433—aligns with Jaguar’s convention for numbering an E-Type 2+2 coupe built late during the 1971 calendar year.
