Jaguar E Type V12 UK registered from new on 4 April 1972. Chassis number 1S50857BW, engine is V12 5343cc and transmission is Borg Warner 3 speed automatic. Registration number Guernsey 38111.
The vendor acquired the car in January 2012 and imported it into Guernsey from the UK. The previous owner had undertaken an extensive restoration. Detailed invoices on file show over £30,000 of work including the supply and fitting of a reconditioned engine, full renovation of the interior, refurbishment of the suspension and brakes, fitting a stainless steel exhaust system and respray in British Racing Green. The car showed 5,300 miles when acquired by the vendor and is now showing 19,500 miles.
In addition to normal servicing and maintenance sensible upgrades include fitting a Rob Beere adjustable power steering, fitting a coolant oil adaptor to allow use of a modern oil filter, refurbishment of the Stromberg carburettors, fitting a new aluminium radiator with polished header tank, cowl and electric fans, and fitting a radiator fan override switch, replacement of electronic oil pressure gauge with mechanical gauge, fitting electronic fuel pump, fitting upgraded bushes to the suspension.
Prior to the auction the E Type was serviced and further works included new rear disc brakes, brake and handbrake sets with pads and callipers, new half shaft universal joints, rebuilt independent rear suspension, new half shaft universal joints and wheel bearings and fitting a Rob Beere easy bleed rear brake kit. Invoices for the work are included in the history file.
