This 1969 Jaguar XKE Series II roadster is finished in Sable with a custom red motif and contrasting pinstripes that are said to have been added by Kenny “Von Dutch” Howard under previous ownership. The car was acquired by the current owner in 2004 and later repainted again to recreate its prior custom paintwork. Power is provided by a 4.2-liter inline-six fitted with dual Zenith-Stromberg carburetors, while shifting is through a four-speed manual transmission linked with a limited-slip differential. Inside, bucket seats trimmed in beige leather are accompanied by a wood-rimmed steering wheel and a Blaupunkt radio. Further equipment includes sealed-beam open headlights, a tan soft top, and a stainless-steel exhaust system. Work in 2025 has involved servicing the carburetors, replacing the fuel pump, and rebuilding the front brakes. This XKE roadster is now offered by the seller on behalf of the owner with partial service records and a California title in the owner’s name.
The seller tells us that the car left the factory finished in Sable and that a custom red motif and contrasting pinstripes were added by Kenny “Von Dutch” Howard at some point under previous ownership. The car was damaged in an accident under current ownership and fitted with a replacement louvered clamshell bonnet before being repainted to recreate the custom livery. The seller notes that a painted Von Dutch signature above the rear bumper was masked off and retained at the time of the repaint. Sealed-beam open headlights, wraparound chrome bumpers, and a tan soft top are further details. The car is not equipped with a tonneau cover, and the seller notes wiper marks on the windscreen as well as missing sections of rubber moulding on the top frame.
The 15″ steel wheels are mounted with 205/70 Pirelli P4000 tires. Braking is handled by four-wheel discs with inboard-mounted rear rotors, and the front brakes were rebuilt in June 2025. The spare wheel and tire are missing.
The cabin features bucket seats upholstered in beige leather along with a color-coordinated center console, door panels, and carpets. Interior appointments include a push-button Blaupunkt AM/FM radio as well as a sliding rear-view mirror, a heater, a locking glovebox, and lap belts.
The wood-rimmed steering wheel frames Smiths instrumentation including a 160-mph speedometer and a tachometer with a 5k-rpm redline as well as a centrally mounted analog clock flanked by gauges for voltage, oil pressure, coolant temperature, and fuel level. The five-digit odometer shows 74k miles. The seller notes that the fuel-level readout is inaccurate.
The 4.2-liter inline-six was factory equipped with dual Zenith-Stromberg carburetors and rated at 246 horsepower and 263 lb-ft of torque when new. The carburetors were serviced and the battery and fuel pump were replaced in June 2025.
Power is routed to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transmission and a limited-slip differential. The car is fitted with a stainless-steel exhaust system.
Various ID markings on the car are shown above. Car number 1R8473 is listed as the VIN on the title prepended with J69, which appears on a tag below the chassis plate. The registration expired in 2013.
The current California title was signed and dated by the owner in February 2018.
