This 1969 Jaguar XKE Series II roadster was sold new by Gruet Motor Car Company in St. Louis, Missouri, and would spend more than three decades under the care of its first owner, who added approximately 29k of the 32k miles shown. The car then remained with two subsequent owners until it was acquired by the selling dealer in October 2025. Specified from the factory in Willow Green over Suede Green upholstery, it received a repaint in 2005 and has also been fitted with a Bell exhaust system and a replacement black soft top. Powered by a 4.2-liter inline-six backed by a four-speed manual transmission and a limited-slip differential, the car rides on 15″ wire wheels and is outfitted with a wood-rimmed steering wheel, a heater, a louvered clamshell hood, and chrome bumpers. Work in preparation for the sale involved replacing the spark plugs, tires, and components related to the clutch and brake systems. This XKE roadster is now offered at no reserve in Massachusetts with a Jaguar Heritage Trust certificate, manufacturer’s literature, hand-written correspondence from the original owner, Jaguar Clubs of North America Concours d’Elegance judging sheets, and an Indiana title.
Finished from the factory in Willow Green, the car was repainted in 2005 and fitted with a replacement black soft top in 2011. Details include wraparound chrome bumpers, a louvered clamshell hood, and dual exhaust outlets.
Chrome 15″ wire wheels are secured by three-eared knockoffs and were fitted with 185-series Michelin tires in preparation for the sale. The four-wheel disc brake system was also serviced in preparation for the sale, with work that involved cleaning the reaction valve, replacing hoses and the reservoir assembly, and flushing the system.
The cabin features bucket seats upholstered in Suede Green leather along with a color-coordinated center console, door panels, and carpets that are protected by black rubber mats. The stereo and clock do not work.
The wood-rimmed steering wheel frames a Smiths 160-mph speedometer and tachometer, while auxiliary readouts are centrally mounted in the dashboard. The five-digit odometer shows 32k miles.
The 4.2-liter inline-six was factory equipped with dual Zenith-Stromberg carburetors and rated at 246 horsepower and 263 lb-ft of torque when new. The spark plugs, oil filter, and air filter were replaced, and the oil was changed in preparation for the sale.
The engine block stamping is shown above, and the sequence matches what is listed on the Jaguar Heritage Trust certificate. Additional identification numbers are presented in the gallery below.
The four-speed manual gearbox is paired with a limited-slip differential. A Bell stainless-steel exhaust system was installed in 2005, and service in preparation for the sale included replacing the clutch slave cylinder and fluid reservoir.
The Jaguar Daimler Heritage Trust Production Record Trace Certificate lists the original colors and powertrain numbers. Judging sheets from a Jaguar Club of North America Concours d’ Elegance can be viewed in the gallery. The car earned a score of a 1000 out of 1000 points at the 2013 JCNA Concours d’ Elegance event in St. Louis.
The current Indiana shows “31188/Actual” under the Odometer/Brand section.
