This 1970 Jaguar XKE Series II 2+2 was built in November 1969 and was purchased by the seller in 1985, and the car is now a running project that needs work on the braking system. Finished in Old English White over beige leather, the vehicle is powered by a 4.2-liter inline-six linked with a four-speed manual transmission and a limited-slip differential. Equipment includes a louvered clamshell hood, dual Stromberg carburetors, 15″ wire wheels, a wood-rimmed steering wheel, and a Philips AM/FM radio. In addition to the car’s lack of functional brakes, the seller notes that its air conditioning does not work and there is a leak under the dashboard. This XKE project is now offered with a tool kit and a clean Idaho title in the seller’s name.
The car is finished in Old English White, and exterior equipment includes sealed-beam open headlights, a louvered clamshell hood, a driver-side mirror, bright trim, dual exhaust outlets, and wraparound chrome bumpers. Chips and scratches in the paint with other imperfections are visible.
Chrome-finished 15″ wire wheels are secured by rounded knock-offs and are mounted with Firestone radial tires measuring 185/65. The seller states that the four-wheel disc braking system does not work.
The 2+2 cabin features seating surfaces upholstered in beige leather along with a color-coordinated center console, door panels, and carpeting. Interior appointments include a Philips AM/FM radio, front and rear seatbelts, a locking glovebox, and black floor mats. The seller tells us that the air conditioning has not worked since at least 1985. A leak is noted under the dashboard. The seating upholstery, headliner, and floor mats are said to have been replaced under current ownership, as has the windshield.
The wood-rimmed steering wheel frames Smiths instrumentation including a 160-mph speedometer and a tachometer with a 5k-rpm redline as well as a clock and gauges for voltage, oil pressure, coolant temperature, and fuel level. The five-digit odometer shows 65k miles, approximately 25k of which were added under current ownership.
The 4.2-liter inline-six was factory equipped with dual Zenith-Stromberg carburetors and rated at 246 horsepower and 263 lb-ft of torque when new. A spin-on oil-filter adapter has been installed.
Power is routed to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transmission and a limited-slip differential.
