This 1969 Jaguar XKE Series II coupe was purchased new from Rodler-Rooney Motors of White Plains, New York, by the seller’s grandfather. The seller and his father refurbished the vehicle during the 1990s, and it was recommissioned in 2020–2023 with work that involved rebuilding the 4.2-liter inline-six, adapting a fuel-injection system that utilizes triple Jenvey throttle bodies, resealing the four-speed manual transmission, refreshing the interior, and overhauling the systems for cooling, fuel, clutch, brakes, and suspension. Finished in silver over red leather, the car is equipped with Isky camshafts, a 123ignition distributor, an aluminum radiator, an auxiliary electric cooling fan, a limited-slip differential, 15″ wire wheels, four-wheel disc brakes, LED headlamps, a Moto-Lita wood-rimmed steering wheel, and a RetroSound stereo. This XKE coupe is now offered with two Jaguar Heritage Trust certificates, manufacturer’s literature, refurbishment photos, service records, removed and spare parts, and a clean North Carolina title in the seller’s name.

The car was finished from the factory in silver, and it was repainted in red decades ago before being stripped, repaired, and repainted in silver in 1994; the paint was cut and polished around 2020. The open Lucas headlamps are fitted with LED bulbs. Other exterior details include a louvered clamshell hood, triple windshield wipers, a driver-side mirror, a side-hinged rear hatch, bright trim, dual polished exhaust outlets, and wraparound chrome bumpers. Imperfections in the paint and chrome are visible.

Chrome-finished 15″ wire wheels are secured by two-eared knock-offs and are mounted with 205/70 Vredestein Sprint Classic tires that were replaced in 2020. Braking is provided by four-wheel discs with inboard-mounted rear rotors. The brakes were overhauled around 2021 with the following work:

The suspension also was refurbished around 2021, when the following parts were replaced:

Ball joints and bushings

Rear-wheel-hub seals

Rear subframe mounts

The parking brake does not work.

The red leather interior was reupholstered in 2021 with materials sourced from Suffolk and Turley and ordered through Classic Jaguar/Team CJ of Austin, Texas. A RetroSound Hermosa radio and aftermarket speakers have been added, and other appointments include a center console, red carpeting, seatbelts, a passenger-side grab handle, a locking glovebox, and a windshield-mounted rearview mirror. The seller notes that the A-pillar trim and the headliner have not been replaced, and the headliner sags. The heater and the clock do not work.

The Moto-Lita wood-rimmed steering wheel frames Smiths instrumentation including a 160-mph speedometer and a tachometer with a 5k-rpm redline as well as gauges for voltage, oil pressure, coolant temperature, and fuel level. The five-digit odometer shows 2k miles and was replaced around the time of the 2022 engine rebuild, the seller tells us. The speedometer cable and the rearview mirror were replaced in 2023.

The 4.2-liter inline-six was rebuilt and updated in the early 2020s with a fuel-injection system that utilizes triple Jenvey throttle bodies; the work was performed by Predator Performance of Largo, Florida, and also involved installing CP-Carrillo connecting rods and Isky “street” camshafts. An aluminum radiator and an auxiliary electric cooling fan were adapted along with a 123ignition distributor, and the following components were replaced:

Water pump

Thermostat

Cooling-system gaskets and hoses

Heater valve

Crankshaft-position sensor

Starter

Ignition wires

Alternator

Engine mounts

Fuel tank and sender

The cast-iron exhaust manifolds have been ceramic-coated. The removed dual Zenith-Stromberg carburetors and intake manifold will accompany the vehicle.

Engine stamp 7R5575-9 is shown above, which corresponds to the number listed on the Jaguar Heritage Trust certificates as well as the chassis plate.

The four-speed manual transmission was resealed in 2022 and the speedometer angle drive was subsequently replaced. Other work conducted during the recent refurbishment included replacing the clutch’s hydraulic lines and cylinders, patching the subframe, and changing the fluid in the limited-slip differential.

An assortment of refurbishment photos and older images will accompany the vehicle along with a collection of refurbishment and service records, more than 50 pages..

The Jaguar Heritage Trust certificate shown above was issued in November 2002 and lists the factory colors, identification numbers, and a build date of May 15, 1969, along with distribution via New York. A second Jaguar Heritage Trust certificate issued in December 2021.
