Lot #218236
This 1970 Jaguar XKE Series II roadster is a running project that had been stored in Mississippi since the previous owner passed away in 2012 until the selling dealer acquired the car in 2024. Finished in British Racing Green with a tan soft top over tan leather upholstery, the vehicle is equipped with a 4.2-liter inline-six, a four-speed manual transmission, a limited-slip differential, a louvered clamshell hood, covered headlamps, wire wheels, four-wheel disc brakes, dual Stromberg carburetors, air conditioning, and a Clarion stereo. The seller has operated the engine while it was fueled from an external source. The under-dash A/C unit and the front bumper are among the missing parts. This XKE project is now offered in Texas at no reserve with a clean Mississippi title.
Finished from the factory in Primrose Yellow, the car has been repainted in British Racing Green. A conversion to covered headlamps has been adapted to the louvered clamshell hood, which has a flatter finish to the paint than the rest of the body. The tan soft top has been replaced but is not fully installed. The vehicle has a wraparound rear bumper, bright trim, and dual exhaust outlets. The front bumper and some lighting lenses are among the missing components.
Chrome-finished 15″ wire wheels are mounted with Viper TR Radial GT tires measuring 215/70. The four-wheel disc brakes feature inboard-mounted rear rotors.
The cabin features bucket seats upholstered in tan leather along with a color-coordinated center console, door panels, and carpeting. Interior appointments include a Clarion AM/FM/cassette stereo, air conditioning, a center console, seatbelts, a wood shift knob, and a glovebox. The under-dash air-conditioning unit is missing.
The wood-rimmed steering wheel frames Smiths instrumentation including a 160-mph speedometer and a tachometer with a 5k-rpm redline as well as an analog clock and gauges for voltage, oil pressure, coolant temperature, and fuel level. The five-digit odometer shows 58k miles.
The 4.2-liter inline-six was factory equipped with dual Zenith-Stromberg carburetors and rated at 246 horsepower and 263 lb-ft of torque when new. Footage of the engine running on an external fuel source is provided in the video gallery below. The cylinder head has been replaced, and an aftermarket air-conditioning compressor has been fitted.
The engine-block stamping is shown above. A different sequence (7E2282–9) is found on the cylinder head.
The four-speed manual transmission is linked to a limited-slip differential.
