This 1969 Jaguar XKE Series II roadster was acquired by the seller in 1987 as a Christmas gift for their spouse, and it was disassembled for paintwork in 2005. The project was stored until 2017, at which time a refurbishment was carried out over the next year. It is finished in Pale Primrose over black leather and is powered by a 4.2-liter inline-six linked with a four-speed manual transmission and a limited-slip differential. Equipment includes a black soft top, a louvered clamshell hood, four-wheel disc brakes, 15″ wire wheels, a wood-rimmed steering wheel, a digital Retrosound AM/FM radio, and a heater. This XKE roadster is now offered at no reserve with a Jaguar Heritage Trust Certificate, the owner’s manual, service records, spare parts, a car cover, prior JCNA judging sheets, awards, and a clean California title in the seller’s name.
The car came finished from the factory in Pale Primrose and was repainted in 2005. A replacement windshield was installed during the later refurbishment, and exterior equipment includes a StayFast black fabric soft top, sealed-beam open headlights, a driver-side mirror, wraparound chrome bumpers, bright trim, a louvered clamshell hood, and dual exhaust outlets. The seller notes that the top bows have been painted black.
The 15″ wire wheels are secured by earless knock-offs and are mounted with Universal Sport tires measuring 185R15. Braking is provided by four-wheel discs with inboard-mounted rear rotors and four-piston front calipers. The brake system was overhauled during the refurbishment, including replacement of the master cylinder and booster.
The cabin features bucket seats upholstered in black leather along with a color-coordinated center console, door panels, and carpets. Interior appointments include a digital Retrosound AM/FM radio, a locking glovebox, and a heater. The seller notes cuts on the edges of the seat backs.
The wood-rimmed steering wheel frames Smiths instrumentation including a 160-mph speedometer and a tachometer with a 5k-rpm redline as well as an analog clock and gauges for voltage, oil pressure, coolant temperature, and fuel level. The five-digit odometer has rolled over and shows 2k miles. Approximately 15k miles were added under current ownership.
The replacement 4.2-liter inline-six was installed under prior ownership and features dual Zenith-Stromberg carburetors. The engine was overhauled in 1997, while work during the refurbishment in the late 2010s involved installing a hi-torque gear reduction starter and a solid-state fuel pump as well as replacing the heater core, heater pipes, and wiring harness.
Power is routed to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transmission and a limited-slip differential. A stainless-steel exhaust system was installed in 2018 along with replacement clutch hydraulic cylinders.
The Jaguar Heritage Trust Certificate shows the factory colors and serial numbers along with a build date of September 4, 1969.
