This 1969 Jaguar XKE Series II roadster was acquired by the seller’s uncle-in-law in 1971. Finished in red over black leather, the car is powered by a 4.2-liter inline-six linked with a four-speed manual transmission and a limited-slip differential. Service in 2024 following several years of the car being off the road included replacing suspension components and servicing the carburetors, while the battery was replaced in preparation for the sale. Equipment includes a black soft top, a louvered clamshell hood, four-wheel disc brakes, and 15″ wire wheels. The cabin is appointed with a wood-rimmed steering wheel, a Philips AM/FM radio, and a heater. This XKE roadster is now offered by the seller on behalf of the owner with a Wisconsin title in the owner’s name.

The car is finished in red and has dual side mirrors, wraparound chrome bumpers, a louvered clamshell hood, and dual exhaust outlets. A dent and damage to the right rear of the car were repaired in 2024. Damage to the soft top is shown in the gallery below, and the seller states that the top and wood strips need to be replaced.

Wire-spoke 15″ wheels are secured by three-eared knock-offs and are mounted with Michelin XA4 tires. Braking is provided by four-wheel discs with inboard-mounted rear rotors. The tie rod ends and upper and lower ball joints were replaced in 2024.

The cabin houses bucket seats upholstered in black leather as well as a Philips AM/FM radio, a locking glovebox, and a heater. Wear on the carpeting is reported.

The wood-rimmed steering wheel frames Smiths instrumentation including a 160-mph speedometer and a tachometer, while auxiliary readouts are mounted in the center of the dashboard. The speedometer needle bounces. The five-digit odometer shows 50k miles.

The 4.2-liter inline-six was factory equipped with dual Zenith-Stromberg carburetors and rated at 246 horsepower and 263 lb-ft of torque when new. The car was unused for several years before the carburetors were serviced recently, and the battery was replaced in preparation for the sale. An oil leak is noted.

Power is routed to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transmission and a limited-slip differential.

Spam prevention question (must be answered):
The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
