This 1968 Jaguar XKE Series 1.5 2+2 coupe is said to have been exported to Venezuela when new and was later brought to the US under previous ownership in the mid-2000s. The car is finished in Opalescent Silver Gray over Dark Blue leather and powered by a 4.2-liter inline-six fitted with triple SU carburetors. Shifting is through a full-synchromesh four-speed manual transmission, and further equipment includes 15″ knock-off wire wheels, power-assisted disc brakes, air conditioning, and a wood-rimmed steering wheel. Acquired by the selling dealer in 2025, this XKE Series 1.5 2+2 coupe is now offered at no reserve with a Jaguar Heritage Trust Certificate, service records, and a clean Maryland title.
Compared to the contemporary coupe, the 2+2 version of the XKE featured a lengthened wheelbase and increased roof height to accommodate a pair of rear seats. This example left the factory finished in Opalescent Silver Gray and was repainted under previous ownership. Additional equipment includes a louvered clamshell hood, uncovered headlamps, door-mounted side mirrors, rear vent windows, wraparound chrome bumpers, and a side-hinged rear hatch. The windshield, reverse-light assembly, and taillight lenses were replaced in 2013, and various chrome exterior pieces were changed from 2015 through 2020.
The 15″ wire wheels are secured by rounded knock-offs and are mounted with 215/75 Vercelli Classic 787 tires. Braking is handled by four-wheel discs with inboard-mounted rear units. The suspension and brakes were serviced in 2004 and 2005. The steering rack and brake master cylinder were replaced in 2015 along with the brake calipers in 2020.
The 2+2 cabin features seating surfaces upholstered in Dark Blue leather. Interior appointments include black vinyl dash trim and a gray headliner along with air conditioning. A JVC AM/FM/CD stereo was installed in 2008, and the door panels were replaced in 2010.
The wood-rimmed steering wheel frames a Smiths 160-mph speedometer and 6k-rpm tachometer, while a clock and auxiliary gauges for coolant temperature, oil pressure, fuel level, and amperage are located in the center of the dashboard. The five-digit odometer shows 16k miles, approximately 100 of which were added under current ownership. The selling dealer states that total mileage is unknown.
The 4.2-liter inline-six features triple SU carburetors and was factory rated at 265 horsepower and 283 lb-ft of torque. The selling dealer tells us that the engine was overhauled in 2005. The water pump, heater box, exhaust manifolds, and ignition wires were replaced and stainless-steel heater piping was installed in 2016, while work in 2023 involved repairing the fuel tank.
Power is routed to the rear wheels through a full-synchromesh four-speed manual transmission.
The Jaguar Heritage Trust Production Record Trace certificate shows the factory colors and drivetrain numbers and lists build and dispatch dates.
