This 1966 Jaguar XKE Series I 2+2 coupe was acquired by the seller in 1985 and was refurbished in 2007, including a repaint and a rebuild of the 4.2-liter inline-six. More recent work in the last two years has included overhauls of the carburetors, rear brake calipers, axles, and rear suspension. Finished in Carmen Red over black leather, the car is equipped with a three-speed automatic transmission, a limited-slip differential, enclosed headlights, 15″ wire-spoke wheels, power-assisted disc brakes, and an aftermarket cassette radio. This XKE Series I 2+2 coupe is now offered with the owner’s manual, service records, a car cover, and an Arizona title in the name of the seller’s living trust, listing it as a 1967 model year.
Compared to the contemporary coupe, the 2+2 version of the XKE featured a lengthened wheelbase and increased roof height to accommodate a pair of rear seats. This example is finished in Carmen Red and was repainted in 2007. The turn signals were repaired in 2023, and the reverse light is inoperative.
The 15″ wire wheels are secured by two-eared knock-offs and are mounted with 205/70 Firestone Precision Touring tires. Braking is provided by four-wheel discs with inboard-mounted rear rotors. The rear calipers were rebuilt and the rotors, pads, and hoses were replaced in 2026. Additional work at that time involved overhauling the rear suspension with replacement bushings and rebuilding the axles.
The 2+2 cabin features seating surfaces upholstered in black leather along with color-coordinated door panels and carpets. Interior appointments include black vinyl dash trim, an Audioline cassette radio, and a heater.
The wood-rimmed steering wheel frames a Smiths 160-mph speedometer and 6k-rpm tachometer, while auxiliary gauges for coolant temperature, oil pressure, fuel level, and amperage are located in the center of the dashboard. The five-digit odometer was reset to zero at the time of the engine rebuild and now shows 4,300 miles. Approximately 5,300 miles were added under current ownership, and total mileage is unknown.
The 4.2-liter inline-six features triple SU carburetors and was factory rated at 265 horsepower and 283 lb-ft of torque. The engine was rebuilt in 2007 and the carburetors were rebuilt in November 2024. The seller notes that the engine occasionally continues running after shutoff and there is seepage from one of the welsh plugs.
Power is routed to the rear wheels through a Borg-Warner three-speed automatic transmission and a limited-slip differential.
The Arizona title “Not Actual Mileage” under the odometer section.
