Lot #230072

This 1968 Jaguar XKE Series 1.5 coupe is powered by a 4.2-liter inline-six modified with electronic fuel injection and linked to a Driven Man five-speed manual transmission conversion. Finished in Opalescent Silver Gray over red leather, the car is equipped with 15″ wire wheels, power-assisted disc brakes, EZ Electric power steering, a replacement steering rack, sealed-beam open headlights, and a Bluetooth stereo. The selling dealer acquired the car in 2012 and subsequently performed a refurbishment that was completed in 2025. This XKE Series 1.5 coupe is now offered by the selling dealer with a Jaguar Heritage Trust Certificate, service records dating from 1984, refurbishment photos, a car cover, and a clean Louisiana title.

The selling dealer highlights that the build was designed “as if Jaguar built a modern E-Type.” The body was disassembled and mounted on a rotisserie and refinished in Opalescent Silver Gray. Features include a louvered clamshell hood, a side-hinged rear hatch, sealed-beam open headlights, turn signals mounted above the front bumper, wraparound chrome bumpers, a driver-side mirror, triple windshield wipers, LED taillights, and dual exhaust outlets. The undercarriage was coated in color-matched bedliner material, and the brightwork, hood latches, trunk latches, and under-hood hardware were cadmium-plated by Van Nuys Plating.

Chrome-finished 15″ center-laced wire wheels are secured by earless knock-offs and are mounted with 205/70 Vredestein Sprint Classic tires. The car is equipped with EZ Electric power steering and a replacement steering rack and pinion. The front suspension components were also cadmium-plated by Van Nuys Plating. Stopping power is provided by four-wheel discs with inboard-mounted rear rotors, and the selling dealer notes that the brake system has been upgraded with stainless-steel hoses, and custom logo-less calipers sourced from E-Type Fabs of the United Kingdom.

The cabin features bucket seats upholstered in red leather by S&G Barrett, along with color-coordinated door panels and carpets. Interior appointments include black vinyl dash trim, a Bluetooth radio, and a Vintage Air R134a air conditioning system.

The smaller-diameter wood-rimmed steering wheel fronts Smiths instrumentation that was rebuilt by Nisonger and includes a 160-mph speedometer and a tachometer. Auxiliary gauges for coolant temperature, oil pressure, fuel level, and amperage are housed in the center stack. The five-digit odometer shows 1,400 miles, and was reset during the build. The selling dealer notes that the odometer showed 78k miles when the car was purchased in 2012.

The 4.2-liter inline-six was rebuilt by Dick Maury of Coventry West and features an E-Type America electronic fuel injection system with three throttle bodies and an Emerald ECU. The engine frame rails were sourced from E-Type Fabs. Additional equipment includes a replacement wiring harness as well as a modern aluminum radiator with an electric fan and an additional fuse box and relays.

Power is routed to the rear wheels through a Driven Man Tremec five-speed manual transmission.

A Jaguar Heritage Trust Certificate and photos taken during the refurbishment are included in the sale.
