1965 JAGUAR E-TYPE SERIES 1 4.2 FHC
08/07/2022
95,308 km
LHD
manual
Ystad, Sweden
Exterior Gunmetal Grey
Interior Black
A wonderful example of the famously beautiful classic British sports car, benefitting from an earlier engine rebuild and respray, as well as a recent interior retrim.
Under the long, curvaceous bonnet is the car’s original 4.2-litre straight-six engine, which drives the rear wheels via a four-speed manual transmission.
The odometer currently displays 95,308 kilometres, however this is not warranted.
This Series 1 Jaguar E-Type FHC is an original Swedish car, which features its original engine and gearbox. The bodywork and mechanicals were restored during 2015 and 2016, and the interior and various other parts were restored during 2021.
Equipment and features
This E-Type is finished in Gunmetal Grey paintwork over a black leather-trimmed interior, with a black dashboard accented by toggle switches, Smiths dials, and a wood-rimmed steering wheel.
It rides on the correct set of 15-inch chromed wire wheels with two-eared knock-off hub nuts, which are shod in Cooper tyres.
The car was professionally restored during 2015-16 which included a full strip-down and repaint, as well as a mechanical rebuild. In 2021, it was fitted with a new leather interior supplied by a Jaguar specialist in the UK, and it has also been fitted with a selection of new parts including white-wall tyres, a replacement exhaust system and manifolds, rubber strips, brightwork, and a new steering wheel.
The vehicle will be accompanied by its original handbook, owner’s manual, spare wheel, jack, and tool kit, as well as a selection of invoices detailing its more recent maintenance, and the original steering wheel.
Condition
There is no impact damage present on the bodywork.
The Gunmetal Grey paintwork is in generally excellent condition, having been resprayed earlier in the car’s lifetime and still presenting exceptionally well with no major defects.
The vendor notes the paint has been protected with Meguiars paint protection.
Inside, the cabin presents exceptionally well following its recent re-trim. The leather appears to be soft and supple and presents no defects whatsoever, while the original dashboard presents very well and shows a handsome ‘patina’, which is in line with the car’s age.
There are no known mechanical or electrical faults, and there are no warning lights showing on the dashboard.
The vehicle’s most recent inspection of roadworthiness was conducted in 2016, and the vendor reports that no warnings or advisory items were noted.
Service history
This E-Type’s latest service was carried out in June 2022 by Auto Classica i Ystad AB. The work comprised of an engine oil and filter change, along with a general inspection.
Prior to this, the car received an oil and filter change at its former private owner in Djursholm, Stockholm.
