Car was offered at auction in '04, info at:
    www.classicauctions.co.uk/car_search_index.html

    Auction description:
    Status NOT SOLD
    Estimate £18000 - 22000
    Mileage 60822
    Colour GREEN
    Trim Colour BLACK
    Chassis No IE20142
    Engine No 7E2213/9
    Registration BBR 56C
    CC 4235
    M.O.T MARCH 2005
The first production E-Type with discs and independent suspension all round was announced in March 1961 as a replacement for the XK150, the first version having the familiar XK six of 3791cc capacity.
In 2000 the vendor purchased this E Type, which first left the Browns Lane works in 1965, after the righthand drive fixed head had been in long term storage. Since acquisition, the 4.2 coupe has been totally stripped down and rebuilt. However, it is claimed that during that all original panels, including bonnet section, were retained, no filler employed and the car fully waxoyled. All trim and the headlining were replaced, new Connolly hide used for the seats and the original Radiomobile radio kept.
The 6-cylinder engine has been rebuilt and rebored with new pistons, bearings and timing chains, with crankshaft still standard, carburetors reconditioned and new exhaust in stainless steel fitted. Suspension ball joints and rubbers were replaced, brakes reconditioned and discs renewed.
Currently, monocoque and body as well as green paintwork are described as being in excellent condition, black interior all new, engine fresh from its rebuild, electrical equipment reconditioned and 4-speed manual transmission reportedly in excellent order.
Although the mileage cannot be certified, the 60,822 displayed when entered is believed to be the genuine total for this car which has all numbers matching - chassis, engine, body and gearbox - just as it left the factory.

Sold by the Sports and Prestige Car Centre of Nutley in October 2025. Seller's description below.

    www.nutleysports.co.uk/portfolio-posts/1965-jaguar-e-type-s1-4-2-fhc

1965 Jaguar E Type Series 1 4.2 FHC. Original UK RHD example in British Racing Green with Black leather interior. Chassis 1E20142 left the Barons Lane works on 14 January 1965 and was distributed by S H Newsome of Coventry. It was supplied to its first owner Mr F A Greenwell of Sunderland and issued with Sunderland registration number BBR56C which it still bears today. A complete restoration was completed in 2004 when the E Type was showing just 60,800 miles which was believed to be genuine.

The car was totally stripped down and all original panels, including the bonnet were retained. All trim and headlining were replaced. New Connolly hide was used for the seats and the original Radiomobile radio was kept. All electrical equipment was reconditioned. The 6 cylinder 4.2 litre engine has been rebuilt with new pistons, bearings and timing chain, with the crankshaft retained as standard specification. The carburettors were reconditioned and a new stainless steel exhaust fitted. The suspension ball joints and rubbers were replaced, brakes reconditioned and discs renewed.

It comes complete with V5 logbook, previous copies of V5 logbooks, previous MoTs, various service and parts invoices, Jaguar Daimler letter of provenance, Jaguar Heritage certificate and spare keys. A matching numbers example with original chassis, engine, body, and gearbox. Just 8000 miles have been covered since restoration. Recent MoT with no advisories. Many miles can be enjoyed in this very correct and original E Type.
