Built to right-hand drive specification in 1965, chassis 1E20060 spent time overseas before entering the current, Northern Irish ownership some forty-six years later. The proprietor of a specialist engineering firm, the vendor commissioned an exhaustive, ‘ground up’ restoration of the Jaguar which took some four years to complete (2013-2017). The bodywork refurbishment and general reassembly were entrusted to Classic Marques N.I. Ltd of Co Down, while C. Irving was entrusted with overhauling the original engine (7E1541-9) and four-speed all-synchromesh gearbox. The London Chroming Company rejuvenated the brightwork and Aldridge Trimming re-upholstered the interior. Attention was paid to the fuel and cooling systems, steering and rear subframe assembly (differential) too. Subtly uprated, the E-Type boasts competition wire wheels, polybushed suspension, Gaz shock absorbers and Coopercraft brakes. Despatched to marque specialist Vicarage Ltd of Four Ashes, near Wolverhampton for finishing off / checking over, the Fixed Head Coupe passed its first post-refurbishment MOT test on October 27th 2017 at an indicated 70,213 miles. Estimated to have covered less than 100 miles since then, the seller still deems it to be in “showroom condition”. Starting readily and running well during our recent photography session, ‘IG 4562’ is coming to market at a fraction of what a comparable restoration would cost today (accompanying parts bills from the likes of SNG Barratt and David Manners total some £33,500 alone). Offered for sale with V5C Registration Document, Jaguar Daimler Heritage Trust Certificate, parts bills, restoration invoices and sundry other paperwork.
