Lot #261516

This 1968 Jaguar XKE Series 1.5 roadster is powered by a 4.2-liter inline-six linked to a four-speed manual transmission and a limited-slip differential. Finished in Beige over Beige leather upholstery, the car is equipped with a brown convertible top, a soft top boot, glass-covered headlights, 15″ wire-spoke wheels, four-wheel disc brakes, an aftermarket JVC radio, and a heater. The car was refurbished prior to the selling dealer’s acquisition in 2026. This XKE roadster is now offered in Florida with a Jaguar Heritage Trust Production Record Trace certificate, a jack, a knock-off hammer, and a North Carolina title.

The car is finished in Beige and features a brown convertible top, a soft top boot, a louvered clamshell hood, wraparound chrome bumpers, bright trim, a driver-side mirror, triple windshield wipers, and dual exhaust outlets.

The 15″ wire-spoke wheels are secured by two-eared knock-offs and are mounted with 185-section Coker Classic redline tires. Braking is provided by four-wheel discs with inboard-mounted rear rotors. The brake master cylinder was replaced under current ownership.

The cabin features bucket seats upholstered in Beige leather along with color-coordinated door panels and carpets. Interior appointments include black vinyl dash trim, a sliding rearview mirror, an aftermarket JVC radio, and a heater.

The wood-rimmed steering wheel frames a Smiths 160-mph speedometer and a 6,000-rpm tachometer, while auxiliary gauges for coolant temperature, oil pressure, fuel level, and amperage are located in the center of the dashboard. The five-digit odometer shows 88k miles, approximately 5 of which were added under current ownership.

The 4.2-liter inline-six features triple SU carburetors and was factory rated at 265 horsepower and 283 lb-ft of torque. Service in preparation for the sale included replacing the radiator and changing the oil.

Power is routed to the rear wheels through a full-synchromesh four-speed manual transmission and a limited-slip differential. The clutch master cylinder was replaced under current ownership.

The Jaguar Heritage Trust Production Record Trace certificate shows the original colors and drivetrain numbers as well as the build and dispatch dates. A jack and a knock-off hammer housed in a leather bag will accompany the sale.

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
