29th Nov, 2022 November 2022 Classics Auction
Lot 60
1967 Jaguar E-Type 4.2 Roadster
The subject of a comprehensive restoration and just 424 miles since completion
Registration - EUG 852F
Chassis No. - 1E16S46
M.O.T. - Exempt
Odometer - 424
Let’s not beat about the bush, this 4.2-litre roadster and the accompanying 3.8-litre coupe [885429] entered from the same private collection, are the best E-Types it has ever been our pleasure to handle. A matching numbers example, ‘EUG 852F’ started life as a lefthand drive export model in British Racing Green, that vacated the Jaguar production line on December 4, 1967. The following month it was despatched to Jaguar Cars of America and then to its first keeper, a Joan E Johnston of Hamburg, New York. Its ensuing history is now relatively unimportant, as 17 years ago it was selected by the vendor for a new life in the UK, in preparation for which it was treated to a professional nut and bolt restoration of the highest standard. The stunning result is a now righthand driver Jaguar presented in arguably the best of all E-Type liveries – ie Gunmetal Grey bodywork teamed with red hide interior trim, carpets and hood. Everything from the quality of the shut lines to the gleaming chrome wire wheels has to be seen to be fully appreciated and, with less than 1,000 miles driven since the completion of the restoration, it is an as-new, or arguably better-than-new, car that is now being offered for sale. The E-Type comes complete with period push-button radio, V5C, import documentation, Heritage Certificate and other documentation. It is even accompanied by a booklet that charts its reformation from ageing American export to righthand drive roadster of show-winning quality.
With a total production run in excess of 72,000, E-Types certainly cannot be classed as rare per se, but the picture looks very different when you break down the numbers by model, which makes ‘EUG 852F’ one of just 8,366 roadsters (OTS) that were originally built for lefthand drive markets, and surely one of the very best of those remaining today.
In summary:
Finished in arguably the optimum E-Type colour scheme
Totally restored less than 1,000 miles ago
Presented in stunning condition inside and out

Sold by The Classic and Sportscar Centre of Malton in February 2026. Abbreviated seller's description below.
www.classicandsportscar.ltd.uk/jaguar-e-type-series-one-4.2-roadster/classic-car ...
This magnificent Jaguar E Type Series 1 Roadster has been subject to a full nut and bolt, ground up restoration. This matching numbers car was built on 14 December 1967 and spent its early life in the US before being brought back to the UK in 2004. It was tested on arrival, then placed in storage ahead of a rebuild that was completed in 2018. Since completion it has covered just over 600 miles, its long term owner of 21 years has just fitted new tyres.
It has had a stunning restoration, the panel work is exceptional with precise panel gaps. The engine bay is a work of art, the bonnet is like new, and the engine has been fully rebuilt and detailed. Many new parts have been installed and the wiring is all new. The brakes, steering and suspension have been refurbished with many new parts. The four speed all syncro gearbox and rear axle have been stripped and rebuilt.
It has been beautifully repainted and retrimmed with a stunning contrasting Red leather upholstery, Red hood and hood bag. A new set of chrome wire wheels have been fitted, and all bumpers and brightwork renewed. It is an incredible driver's car and offers first class performance with excellent oil pressure and correct cooling. This E Type is as reliable as it is beautiful, ready for spirited drives. An opportunity to purchase a rebuilt car with just 600 running in miles covered.
