This 1967 Jaguar XKE is one of approximately 1,500 transitional Series 1.25 roadsters produced and was dispatched to the US in March 1967. The seller’s father and brother flew to California to buy the car in February 1987 and drove it back to Minnesota, where it has since remained with the family. The car is repainted in British Racing Green over a re-trimmed interior with tan leather upholstery and is powered by a rebuilt 4.2-liter inline-six equipped with triple SU carburetors that is linked to a four-speed manual transmission and a limited-slip differential. It has uncovered sealed-beam headlights and a replacement black soft top along with 15″ knock-off wire wheels, power-assisted disc brakes, and a stainless-steel exhaust system. Inside, a wood-rimmed steering wheel is accompanied by early-style toggle switches as well as a Bluetooth-capable stereo. This XKE Series 1.25 roadster is now offered with a Jaguar Heritage Trust certificate, vehicle literature, records, tools, spare parts, and a clean Minnesota title in the seller’s name.

Produced from roughly January to July of 1967, transitional Series 1.25 cars retained the triple SU carburetors, interior toggle switches, and taillights of earlier Series 1 cars but were specified with uncovered sealed-beam headlights to comply with upcoming US safety regulations for the 1968 model year.

This example left the factory in March 1967 finished in British Racing Green. The seller reports that it was stripped and repainted at some point under their father’s ownership. The black soft top, weatherstripping, and radio antenna are also believed to have been replaced during his time with the car. Wraparound chrome front and rear bumperettes are paired with tubular guards. The front turn signals and taillights are mounted above the bumperettes. Further details include a louvered clamshell hood, a wraparound windshield, triple windshield wipers, and dual exhaust outlets. There is a dent on the front lower valance.

Chrome-finished 15″ center-laced wire wheels are secured by twin-ear knock-offs and are mounted with 195/75 Goodyear Invicta GL tires. Stopping power is provided by four-wheel discs with inboard-mounted rear rotors. The seller recommends servicing the brakes.

Originally outfitted with Suede Green leather upholstery, the cabin is believed to have been re-trimmed prior to 1987. It now features bucket seats upholstered in tan leather accompanied by color-coordinated door panels and carpets as well as a black vinyl–trimmed dash with toggle switches. A Bluetooth-capable stereo has been added ahead of the shifter, and a removed radio is included in the sale.

The wood-rimmed steering wheel fronts Smiths instrumentation that includes a 160-mph speedometer and a 6k-rpm tachometer with an integrated clock. Auxiliary gauges for coolant temperature, oil pressure, fuel level, and amperage are housed in the center stack. The five-digit odometer shows 23k miles.

The seller tells us that the 4.2-liter inline-six was rebuilt approximately 10 years ago by their father. The engine breathes through a trio of SU carburetors as well as a stainless-steel exhaust system. The car is said to have seen minimal use for at least the past five years, including being parked for most of the last two.

Power is routed to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transmission and a limited-slip differential.

The Jaguar Heritage Trust certificate notes a production date of March 9th, 1967 and original distribution through Jaguar Cars in New York. It also lists the factory interior and exterior colors as well as the chassis, engine, body, and gearbox numbers.

A collection of vehicle literature, records, tools, and spare parts is included in the sale.
