This 1966 Jaguar XKE Series I roadster was refurbished in 2016 and is powered by a 4.2-liter inline-six paired with a replacement five-speed manual transmission. Finished in cream over black leather upholstery, the car is equipped with a black convertible top, enclosed headlights, 15″ wire wheels, power-assisted disc brakes, Koni shock absorbers, triple SU carburetors, an aluminum radiator, and a stainless steel exhaust system. The car was acquired by the owner in 2007, and work during the 2016 refurbishment reportedly totaled over $100k. This XKE Series I roadster is now offered on behalf of the owner with service records and a California title.
The car is finished in cream and features a black convertible top, enclosed headlights, a louvered hood, wraparound chrome bumpers, a driver-side mirror, triple windshield wipers, and dual exhaust outlets. The windshield and weatherstripping were replaced in 2016.
Chrome-finished 15″ wire wheels are secured by two-eared knock-offs and are mounted with Pirelli Cinturato CA 67 tires. A matching spare is stored in the trunk. The suspension is fitted with Koni shock absorbers, and braking is handled by four-wheel discs with inboard-mounted rear rotors. Work in 2016 included replacing the tie rods, steering rack mounts, and sway bar, while the brake calipers, rotors, and hoses were replaced in 2017.
The cabin features bucket seats upholstered in black leather along with color-coordinated door panels and carpets. Interior appointments include black vinyl dash trim, a sliding rearview mirror, a heater, and a RetroSound radio installed in 2023. The dash pad was replaced and the center console was refurbished in 2016.
The wood-rimmed steering wheel fronts a Smiths 160-mph speedometer and a tachometer with a 5k-rpm redline, while auxiliary gauges for coolant temperature, oil pressure, fuel level, and amperage are located in the center of the dashboard. The five-digit odometer shows 82k miles, approximately 8k of which were added under current ownership. The speedometer was rebuilt in 2018, and the steering column bushings were replaced in 2019. Total mileage is unknown.
The 4.2-liter inline-six features a gold-painted cylinder head valley and was rebuilt in 2016 by Vintage Auto Service of Oakland, California. Machine work to the block included boiling the components, installing new cylinder liners bored .020″ over, torque-plate honing, surfacing the block, and alignment-honing the mains. The rotating assembly was balanced and the engine was pre-assembled to set the compression ratio at 9.49:1 using Crower rods, street-performance camshafts, AE tappet buckets, and a high-performance crankshaft damper. The triple SU carburetors were rebuilt and the intake manifold was hand-polished. Work in late 2017 included replacing the exhaust camshaft with a WAD component, replacing a tappet, and installing a Cometic multi-layer steel head gasket. Additional equipment includes a Mallory dual-point distributor, an aluminum radiator, and a spin-on oil filter adapter.
Power is routed to the rear wheels through a replacement five-speed manual transmission and a limited-slip differential. The clutch components, aluminum flywheel, and master cylinder were replaced in 2016, and the differential was overhauled in 2017. A stainless steel Bell exhaust system has been installed.
The car is titled using the VIN J661E12058, which incorporates the chassis number (1E12058) combined with a “J66” prefix. The California title carries a “Not Actual Mileage” notation.
