Ebay item 8/10/15
www.ebay.com/itm/Jaguar-E-Type-FHC-/131574620086
Current bid $20,100 reserve not met 2 bids 6 days left in auction. 78k miles. Car now said to be in West Harrison, Indiana.

Sellers description:
1965 Jaguar Series 1 XKE E-type fixed head coupe, this is the 2 seater version. Beautiful, sleek styling on these early series 1 coupes, covered headlights, first year for the bigger 4.2L DOHC 6 cylinder, this car starts and runs well, drives straight and true, no shakes or shimmies. It was recently driven to the SVRA vintage races at Indianapolis 500 track, and did a couple of laps around the 2.5 mile oval, what a blast.

This car has had recent fuel system servicing including removal of the fuel tank to be dipped and sealed, new correct electric fuel pump, carburetor overhauls, air cleaner refinished in correct hammertone gray paint, new air filter, new Pertronics electronic distributor and coil.

Jaguar Heritage Certificate documents this car still retains original colors for exterior and interior. Original engine 7E 1410-9, head 7E 11410-9, chassis 30161 and body 4E 20207 numbers all match the Heritage Certificate. I am assuming the transmission is the original 4-speed, but I could not gain sufficient access to the rear of the gearbox to verify the number. Color is Opalescent Silver Blue with Light blue interior, a beautiful combination.

Body has been repainted many years ago, and shows some signs of previous rust repair and some paint touch up on the bonnet. Most noticeable rust repair are the bonnet wing panels, and the driver side foot well has been replaced. It is certainly not a concours level show car, and is not priced as such. It is a very good looking, dependable driver that can be enjoyed without breaking the bank. Or, it would be a great foundation for a ground up restoration, since most original components are there. I am not familiar with jaguars, but from what I can see, the Steering wheel is a smaller diameter replacement along with the 5 smaller gauges in the center are replacement Stewart Warner units instead of the original Smith gauges. Thankfully, the smaller steering wheel makes it a bit easier to get in and out of the car. I do not have the original steering wheel or gauges.

Car is sitting on original Jaguar knockoff wire wheels and Michelin tires, with the 5th wire wheel secured in the spare tire storage well. The original jack and tool roll is not present, having been replaced by some aftermarket items and tools in reproduction pouches. SPAX adjustable shocks all the way around appear to be recently installed.

Interior is above average, headliner is very nice, seat covers show some age but have no rips, tears, or burn marks. Front carpet is not attached and slides around. Rear carpet is nice and fits well. Door panels are nice, doors open and shut pretty well, locks work, driver side window can be pesky at times going up and down.

This is the only XKE I have ever owned, so my knowledge is limited at best.

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
