Ebay item 8/7/06
cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Jaguar-E-Type-1965-XKE-2-seat-coupe-restored-multiple-sh ...
Current bid $1,000 reserve not met, 1 bid, 6 days left in auction.
Sellers description:
A virtually perfect 1965 xke coupe which I restored over a 3 year period from 2001 to 2004. All of the mechanicals have been rebuilt, and the car was stripped to a shell and given an 11 coat base coat/clear coat brg paint job using a 2001 xk8 paint code, so that any futrue damage could be seamlessly repaired. (I have paint codes and paint left over).
The body was not bad for 40 years old. The floor pan trays were replaced, along with both door skins, the drivers rear fender, sill, front bulkhead and battery tray. The lower portion of the nose (front) was also replaced. The nose was completely disassembled, painted, and reassembled with new hardware. The front subframe was filled with waxoil, and allowed to drain and assembled with new hardware. The windshield was replaced, along with all rubber. All of the chrome was rechromed by Paul's chrome, except for the door handles and left and right windshield pillars. The wheels are new (tubeless), as are the tires.
The body was finished and painted by a master body man in Cherry hill. This included several days of hand buffing the finished product. Great pain was taken to get the gaps correct.
The engine was completely rebuilt. It was bored .040 over, balanced and given a 3 angle valve job. The machine work was done by Engine Specialties. All hoses, belts, wires and main harness are new. Of course all bearings, gaskets and chains were replaced. The engine is completely silent once warm, with great oil pressure. New exhaust manifolds were installed, but the porcelin cracked when I was caught in a rain storm coming home from the first show. The carbs, alternator and starter were rebuilt, and I used upgraded seals on the crank. I had the valve covers, intake manifold and carb tops polished.
The clutch plate, pressure plate and throwout bearing are new, and the flywheel was reconditioned. The transmission was rebuilt by Dave clark at sports car services, and works perfectly. The driveshaft was rebuilt, and I installed an adjustable crossmember from xk's unlimited. I also installed a new stainless 2 inch exhaust from xk's unlimited, which sounds great.
All of the shocks and suspension bushings were replaced with new stock components, which gives the car a very supple ride. .The front control arms were powdercoated, along with the rear suspension cage and front subframe. The trailing arms were replaced. The brakes were sleeved by apple hydrolics, new rotors and pads installed, and braided stainless steel hoses used.
The interior is completely new, including all leather, seats, seat cushions, dash top, carpets ,and headliner, although I did not touch the gages or gage mounting surface.Key areas were insulated with Dynamat to reduce road noise.
The gas tank was sent out and reconditioned and new flexible fuel lines were installed.
The fuel pump and differential appeared fine, so they were just cleaned, and the diff painted.
The underside of the car is as clean as the exterior, and the wheel wells were undercoated.
The car has never failed me in any way in the 2000 miles since i put it on the road. It is quite fast, with great torque. It has an upgraded "cool cat" cooling fan, recored radiator, kevlar hoses, new heater tubes, and new expansion tank. I took it to 3 popular vote local shows last year, and it won its class each time.
The odometer works, but did not when I bought it, so its hard to say how many miles are actually on it. At this point I think its academic. For some reason the windshield washers don't work.
I have almost $30,000 in reciepts, not including 2000 hours of my time, as well as that of a good friend. I wouldn't hesitate to drive it anywhere.

Opening bid $15,000 reserve not met, no bids yet, 6 days left in auction. Car now located in Atlanta, Georgia. Buy it now price $59,000. 45k miles.
Sellers description:
British Racing Green with tan leather 2 person fixed head coupe went through a complete nuts and bolts restoration, which was completed in 2004. This is a series 1 car with the desirable combination of the 4.2 liter engine and the full synchronized manual gearbox. There are over $20K in parts receipts! This does NOT include the cost of restoring the body, paint, wire wheels, the labor to rebuild the engine, nor the labor to rebuilt many of the components and reassembly of the car. Needless to say, my Buy it Now price is less than what a takes to restore one of these Jaguars to this high quality level.
You really need to see the car in person to get a good appreciation of the quality of the restoration. This car is not a trailer queen, it has been driven after the car was restored. Many times cars that have completed a nuts and bolts restoration are simply used for shows and have not been sorted out for regular driving. If you are looking for a Jaguar you can drive yet be able to take to shows .... this car is perfect! Below is a partial list of the things that were done during the restoration:
- body was taken down to bare metal, COMPLETELY disassembled, and repainted
- engine block and head were completely redone. The engine block is the original, the head was replaced.
- all glass, including the doors, were removed
- engine frame rails were removed and painted, new bolts were used for re-assembly
- new wiring harness
- front suspension was redone
- rear differential and suspension were redone
- brake calipers were redone
- new wiring hardness
- new stainless steel exhaust
- new headliner
- new interior kit
- new wire wheels
- new red line tires
- full synchro gearbox was rebuilt
- front suspension was powder coated
- chrome bumpers and trim were redone
- new high efficiency radiator fan
- new hoses and belts
- and MUCH more!
Mechanically the car is superb! The full synchro gearbox shift well, and the engine is one of the fastest I have driven in a while. Oil pressure is 50+psi. If you are looking for a superb fixed head coupe in an awesome color combination ... this is it!
Car comes with jack in the bag, owner's manual, knock off hammer, over 100 restoration photos and many receipts.

This one is identical--and 128 cars newer--than my old 1E30036. It's a lovely car and I was wondering if anyone has seen it since 2007.
