Car returns to ebay 5/2/12
cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1970-JAGUAR-E-TYPE-2-2-COUPE-4-SPEED-EXCELLENT-DRIVER-NO ...
Current bid $17,000, no reserve, 2 bids 1 day left in auction. Car now said to be in Hinckley, Ohio. 69k miles.

Sellers description:
Beautiful 1970 Jaguar E-type Coupe in Light blue over Blue leather interior With a 4 speed manual gearbox. This car would make an Excellent driver or would be a good candidate for an inexpensive and minor Restoration. The car is in Extremely Mechanical shape (read below) and runs and drives with ease at any speed. The paint on the car is a little bit older and has very minor flaws but still shines and looks great. Below is a run down of the various parts of the car. The scale i am using is from 1 to 10, with 10 being considered excellent.

SIDENOTE: I am trying to be as objective and critical as possible the car is in great shape but i will point out everything i know about.

Mechanical: 8.5
The Car is in excellent mechanical shape, Runs, drives, shifts, and moves like a Jaguar should. The Tires are almost brand new (1000 miles or less). The electrical components all work without much fuss. The negatives are the following: the power steering pump is out of the car (drives fine without it) i have the original pump and it can likely be rebuilt and put back in, The wipers do no turn on (i was told it was the switch), and the AC is not connected. The brakes, exhaust, and a few rear end components have recently been replaced.

Body: 7.5
The Body panels are all nice and straight with only minor blemishes (a couple dime size dings and a couple very small spots of rust bubbling) on a couple of panels, the doors and rear hatch are lined up perfectly but the hood could use a minor adjustment. The under body of the car does show small signs of rust but nothing incredibly detrimental or overly harmful. The floor pans seem very solid with only minor rust around the edges. Glass is in great shape, no breaks cracks, scrapes, or scratches anywhere to be found.

Paint and trim: 7
The paint is older with no major cracking or fading, The car would likely shine up very very nicely with a quick wet sand and buff. The Trim is a mixed batch, the upper trim is in great condition with very very minor pitting in the chrome. The rear bumper is more heavily pitted but still shines and looks great. The front bumper has some peel to the chrome and some pitting but shines and looks good as well for a driver. The Chrome trim for the rear hatch is missing.

Interior: 7
The Jaguars interior is all original and in relatively good shape for its age, the seats show some wear but no tears. The headliner is clean and looks like it was replaced not to long ago. The dash is in good shape with only small piece coming out of place right next to the passenger door. The boot is very very clean and looks like it was rarely used. All the gauges (except the clock) work without fail.

Other:
The Car will show and drive nicely in its present condition, There is nothing immediately wrong or overly worrying with it at the moment i am just not the type of guy who likes to make something seem like its the greatest thing in world when it needs a little work here and there. This is the type of car you can get in and drive anywhere without much worry.

The new owner has rejuvenated this cat with a significant restoration and new photos have been posted. Originality has been preserved in the interior where a full leather restoration has been completed. The original power unit and drive train remain in great working order. The new paint job was full glass out and trim removed, and has now new seals throughout

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
