    Ebay item 6/29/05
    cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll
Current bid $22,101.00 (Reserve not et), 9 bids, 8 days left in auction. Auction is based in Mississauga, Ontario, Canada.

    Sellers description:
This beautiful car truly is a work of art. The Heritage Certificate that comes with this car certifies that this 1962 roadster was manufactured on June 5th, 1962. The car has been in my family since 1974 and was in storage from the early 1980’s until we began the slow restoration in 1996. This E-type is located in Toronto, Canada.

The original 6 cyl., 3.8 XK engine has been completely rebuilt by Cheshire Motor Car Company in Toronto and runs virtually as it did in 1962. All numbers match except the transmission which was replaced by a pristine 4.2, all synchromesh, 4 speed transmission which improves the driver’s pleasure ten fold. The flawlessly tuned triple SU carburetors make this a very smooth, quick car. Almost everything is new or re-plated including a Stainless Steel exhaust system and a new navy Sunfast top. The wheels are Stainless wire wheels with authentic knock-offs. About the only item not restored is the wonderful, original wood steering wheel which is too beautiful to change. What’s not original? When we recovered the seats with hi grade leather we used matching leather on the dash top trim and doors. The original was black vinyl. Both items can be easily returned to the original.

Partial List of New Parts -In the last four years:
    *4 speed all-syncho transmission
    *Bartlett interior
    *Complete engine rebuild
    *New wire wheels
    *New Sunfast top
    *Most chrome replaced or re-plated
    *New custom paint
    *New brakes and shocks
    *Electric Fan -No overheating!
    *10 pack CD
    *Heritage Certificate
    *Car cover

The expensive work is completely finished on this excellent restoration and it's ready to go -show or drive! This car has no known mechanical defects and there are several cosmetic defects as to be expected in an E-type of this age. The main defects from original are listed here. In the 1970’s someone undercoated the inside of the hood which we determined was too ‘messy’ to remove. The outside of the hood was taken to bare metal before the new paint. The car starts immediately and drives quickly and smoothly -every time! There should be no surprises with this car -and any that are will be most pleasant!

hmmm...first, i have no idea how the ebay listing got here. I have been the owner of this car (presently on ebay) since 1974 and the car has never left Canada. I therefore have no idea where the info came from for the Germany reference as to it's locaton. The car was never grey and the interior always biscuit! The photos shown here which are from ebay are correct and taken by me.

I posted the above comments yesterday. I don't know who Paul is, but the 877456 etype is mine and has been in Canada since 1962. We have owned it since 1974. I would love to know what's up with this information about being in Germany.

Ebay listing by owner in Canada claims original interior was black vinyl changed to present leather, posted comment on 2005-06-29 by owner claims interior always biscuit. Which would he like to claim as accurate and what else is misrepresented?

Original body paint was Opalescent Dark Blue and has been White since before 1974.
Original interior colour is listed as Red, was Biscuit in 1974 and is now Tan leather.
The dash and doors are done in the same leather.

Re: Anonymous last post: I'm sorry if I wasn't clear enough. In the eBay listing I thought I was saying that the the original dash top was black vinyl -so viewers understood that by covering all with leather I was deviating from original. When we got the car (1974) the interior was as close to biscuit as anyone could determine. Haddock, page 56, speaks to the variables of this area. The dash is flat, btw, not 'fat' as on later series 1. ...oh yes, and the plenums are white. I also took a photo of the vin number stamped on the 'front section of the front subframe..." -Haddock.

Interestingly, as I read Haddock and Porter (in defence) I am gleaning more information that speaks to the originality of my etype.
    Kindest regards,
    Charles -Canada

pay now is EUR 45'000 (approximately US $54,454.50). Seller says 1961 car, but obviously is from 1962.
