Detailing
This Jaguar roadster has recently been traded to us and is ready for a new home. This Series 1 E-Type has been restored by Donovan Motorcar Service of Lenox, MA; it needs nothing to be enjoyed immediately. Bare metal respray, new canvas top, full mechanical rebuild; a great history file is included.

Original tools, radio, owner's manual included, as well as Heritage certificate.

Accessories
Later Series I all-syncromesh gearbox fitted; slightly wider (6 inch) chrome wire wheels added; chrome spare wheel / tire; uprated brakes improved suspension; stainless steel exhaust. Lucas tri-bar headlamps.
Presentation
A wonderful E Type for driving, with great attention to suspension and handling, the finish is superb. The leather and carpet retrimming is first rate.

Model History
Build date of 4 June 1962; sold new to D. C. Cumming of Muncie, Indiana. Previous owner for 19 years.

Sellers description:
The St. Louis Car Museum is very proud to offer this stunningly restored 1962 Jaguar XKE 3.8 Series I roadster. A marquee Jaguar restoration facility called Donovan Motorcars professionally restored this vehicle between 1999 through 2001 after it was located rust free in Arizona with only 28,820 original miles showing on the odometer! The entire body and frame were stripped to bare metal and painted Carmine Red. The all black leather interior is new with a matching canvas soft top. All the exterior chrome was refinished as an astronomical cost, and all weather stripping and window rubber replaced with new. This restoration also included a complete engine rebuild by reconditioning the original, number’s matching block, head, and crank. New main bearings, rod bearings, pistons, HP cams, timing chains, valves, and valve guides were all installed. The original non-synchromesh gearbox was replaced with a Series I synchromesh version eliminating the concern of grinding gears. The original triple SU carburetors were rebuilt with new needles and fuel lines, re-cored the radiator, rebuilt water pump, and rebuilt generator with new brushes.

The entire braking system was refurbished with stainless steel sleeved brake calipers, new rotors; brake pads, lines, and wheel bearings. The suspension received new torsion bars, front sway bar, rack mounts, and heavy-duty rear springs. The 7” chrome wire spoke wheels are brand new with Bridgestone tires. And finished with the superb sound of a stainless steel exhaust system!

It is truly a breathtaking example even with a now 8-year-old restoration! The current odometer reading is only 39,143 actual miles! This outstanding, early E-type needs nothing to be enjoyed right away! It comes complete with matching spare, jack and wheel wrench, Jaguar Heritage Certificate, wiring diagram, owner’s handbook, and receipts of the entire restoration!
