Arguably the favourite model of Britians sexiest sportscar is the 3.8 roadster and we are pleased to have an example for you today.
We understand from the vendor that this particular example was totally rebuilt during 1992/93 using all new Jaguar panels and floorpan. At the same time the mechanics were completely rebuilt, a new double duck hood was fitted, all the carpets were replaced, the wire-wheels were re-enamelled, a stainless steel exhaust was fitted, the electrical equipment was reconditioned and a new wiring loom was replaced.
These cars still turn heads wherever they go and sold with its current V5 registration document the present owner hopes that it's new owner will derive as much pleasure from it as he has had.
Please note: This vehicle was, as it's chassis number denotes, originally a fixed head coupe and has obviously been converted to it's present roadster configuration.

    Chassis No: 860391
    Engine No: RA1781-9
    Registration No: EU REG

Finished in British Racing Green with tan upholstery, this particular example is variously described by the vendor as being in "fair" (bodywork, paintwork), "OK" (interior trim, chassis, wheels / tyres), "good" (electrical equipment, engine) or "very good" (manual gearbox) condition. Beginning life as a fixed-head coupe, chassis 860391 had been converted into a roadster by the time it entered the current ownership via our June 7th 2000 Buxton auction. Indeed, the car's then keeper stated that it had undergone an extensive restoration in 1992-1993 including the fitting of "an all new floorpan and Jaguar panels" not to mention a thorough mechanical overhaul and the sourcing of a new double-duck hood etc. Resident in Eire since 2000, the last few years have apparently seen the E-type receive attention to its "gearbox, subframe and electrics". Altogether, the work is said to have totalled "about £20,000". An appealing proposition, this Series I E-type rides on wire wheels and sports an early type interior complete with turned aluminium centre console, Dunlopillo seats and wood-rim steering wheel.

Spam prevention question (must be answered):
The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
