The data plate reads:
Car No. 1R 8741
Body No. 4R 2871
Engine No. 7R4260-9
Gear Box No. KE5534
some of the numbers were hard to read but I believe these are correct.

The interior and the top were done by Sis Upholstery in Waite Park, MN near St
Cloud, MN and they have a good reputation locally. The owner of the car did
have them do some things with the interior that were not original such as the
leather dash.

The owner of the Jag called back and said the body work was started when he
lived in Marshall, MN by Dans Body Shop and then when the Jag owner moved to St
Cloud, MN he brought the car with him and had Midwest Motor Sports finish the
body and do engine work changing carbs etc.

Current bid $10,100 reserve not met, 4 bids, 5 days left in auction. Car now said to be located in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

Sellers description:
1969 Jaguar XKE II is possibly the finest example of a Jaguar E-type you will ever see for sale. Fewer than 500 miles have been put on this masterpiece since a frame-up restoration was completed. The beautiful car was striped to bare mettle before every painted surface was reworked and then coated with brilliant red paint. The interior and dash are covered in red leather. The carpet is new. The top is pristine white naugahyde. The undercarriage, trunk, interior, and engine compartment are all beautifully painted and clean. And to top it off, this Jaguar has only been driven 39,960 miles since it was new in 1969! If you've been drempt of owning a top of the line Jaguar E-type, this is definitely the car you've been waiting for...

Car still offered at above URL for $42k.

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
