Current bid $7,655 reserve not met, 4 bids, 6 days left in auction.

Sellers description:
1969 Jaguar XKE Series II for auction. I purchased it in 1973 and due to my advancement in years I have come to the reluctant conclusion that I no longer can enjoy the ownership of this automobile. It has 43,821 actual miles.

I will describe this auto to the best of my ability. The paint is Pale Primrose (a factory original color). It was resprayed in the early 80's and is showing its age with some cracking and flaking although from about 10 feet it looks presentable. Obviously to be a show car it would need repainting. It is basically rust free with some very, very minor surface rust. It has all original body panels, engine and transmission. The windows are all in excellent condition, again to be a show vehicle the windshield ruuber seals would need replacing (they are supplied with the car). The chrome is in very good to excellent condition with the exception of the front bumper and one of the knockoff wire wheel hubs that would need to be rechromed for show. The chrome wheels are in excellent condition, including the spare which has never been used. The car, as far I can tell, has never been in an accident. It has two very minor dents. (I hesitate to call these dents as they are more like scratched, the one on the hatch caused by the spare tire being removed as I was replacing the fuel pump, and the one on the driver's door next to the handle caused by a bicycle without handlebar rubber caps.) It has a newer exhaust system, fuel pump, clutch slave cyclinder. All in all this is a very solid car.

The interior is in even better condtion. The carpets are newer and in perfect condition, purchased from Bartlett's. The seats are in very good condition, no tears or rips, and if one does not like the patina look, could use a redyeing. They are the original seats, The rest of the interior is excellent with only the headliner needing reglueing or replacing. The gauges all work as do the headlights/taillights/turn signals. The radiator fans work when the coolant temp reached the proper temp. The heater fan works. The clock does not (I did not put in a new battery). The windshield wipers do not work although they did last time I needed them (around 1986) so its most likely a connection issue. It has a factory supplied British Motors Company pushbutton AM radio, and yes, it works. A cassette player has been added in the center armrest but has not been tested recently.

The Jag starts easily and idles smoothly once the choke is returned to the off position. It maintains 35 to 40 lbs of oil pressure. All the gears work with no whining or clunking. The car has not been licensed since 1986 and subsequently has not been on the road. It has been started intermittingly and put in gear and moved once and awhile. Therefore I would firmly suggest a thorough checking out of mechanical elements before putting it on the road. It was stored in a dry environment. It is readily able to be driven onto a trailer or hauler.

Spam prevention question (must be answered):
The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
