Auction description:
Lot 164
A 1967 Jaguar E-Type Series I 2+2 coupé, registration number PPA 507E, chassis number 1E 50661, engine number 7E 52661-9, Signal red. In the current ownership since 1991, PPA 570E, rolled off the Browns Lane production line on 7th December 1966, destined for Henleys showroom in London where it was registered to the new owner in 1967, and cost a not inconsiderable £2,245 9 shillings and 9d. Little is known of this original right hand drive manual home marked E-Type's early history until Dr Jeremy Young owned the car during the 1980s, both in England and America. There are receipts on file for works carried out when Dr Young lived in Pasadena, Maryland, USA. During Dr Young's ownership the Jaguar carried the registration number GDJ 386X from 1982 to 1992, when the original registration number PPA 570E was reinstated. At some point in the car's life, the body colour was changed from the originally supplied dark blue to the current Signal red, but the change had occurred prior to the current vendor purchasing the Jaguar from A J Sutton, Staple Cottage, Blackberry Lane, Lingfield, Surrey on the 1st March 1991 for £13,000 (receipt on file). Since acquiring the E-Type, the vendor has lavished considerable sums of money, time and effort to bring this E-Type up to an excellent standard. Notable works carried out during his ownership include an interior re-trim in 1997 by Mike Thomas for £2,937.50, a body refurbishment and bare metal respray by Gary Dockree in 1998 for £4,000, an engine overhaul in 1998, including the cylinder head being converted for unleaded petrol, a suspension rebuild in 1999 and numerous other items too numerous to mention here. Handsomely presented in Signal red with a grey leather interior, which still retains its original radio. The body is fitted with a full length Webasto sunroof, which has been a great feature to have during this exceptionally warm summer and she sits on chrome wire wheels with recently replaced tyres. Offered for auction with a comprehensive history file from 1991, with maintenance receipts for tens of thousands of pounds, past MOTs, Jaguar Heritage certificate, original Jaguar radio owners guide, an original E-Type service manual, parts lists, V5 and V5C. A beautifully presented example of Jaguar's iconic E-Type, which offers bags of style and pace, with the benefit of a rear seat offering more practicality than the normal coupé. V5, V5C, MOT to June 2014, tax exemp
