I've had Gattino Rosso (or "red kitty" in Italian) for 24 years but she hasn't been running until recently. She was originally Pale Primrose, with a black interior. I've made a number of upgrades to modernize the functionality but keep the original look. She should be fully road-ready in a week.

I have a full set of photos from the restoration up on flickr, at:
www.flickr.com/photos/cmphoto/sets/72157616023939437/

There's a nice slideshow tool that will cycle through the shots.

I also have a Facebook page on Gattino Rosso, at:

What a superb looking restoration. What precisely is the paint colour you have used?

Merci -- she's a lovely little beast, no doubt about it. As for color, I'd have to refer you to a formula. It's BASF Glasurit 55-Line, and arguably about halfway between Carmen Red and Regency Red in "brightness", but the most important aspect is that it's a more saturated red, without the orange bias of Carmen Red or the browns of Regency Red (or the blues of the maroons). It's also not opalescent or a pearl.

(Oh, I forgot to add that I call the color "Rosso di Passione", or Passion Red. But the XKEData list didn't include that as an option. ;-)

BTW, my painter says it's closest to Signal Red. I'm not sure that helps, since there are so many variations of that.

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?:
