This is a British Racing Green 1965 Jaguar XKE Coupe with a biscuit interior. The car was being refurbished to be used as a reliable driver. I purchase the car in 1994 from a fellow who went broke, he imported it from Mexico. To my knowledge, the car has absolutely no rust although there is battery acid damage to the lower drivers side frame rail. This has been repaired but should be noted. The previous owner spent six or seven thousand dollars on repairs ( I have the bills), which included brakes, clutch, shocks, and front suspension etc. When I purchased the car I had it examined by a jag specialist, formerly of Kentish House Jaguars, and he deemed the car to be sound and a reasonably easy restoration. I had the car blocked, sanded and painted. I was not 100% happy with the paint. In retrospect, it may be that I wanted a $5000.00 dollar paint job for $3000.00 dollars. To look down the sides, it is perfectly blocked and gives a non distorted reflection. I had all the chroming redone but never put it back on the car as I was debating repainting. I also had a complete Bartlett interior installed. I then spent about $3000.00 dollars on miscellaneous repairs. There was a noise in the rear end so it was taken apart and redone, a new set of Pirellis were installed, a new steering wheel was fitted and anything else was done that I thought might jeopardize the reliability. Also purchased a new rubber kit. We, (actually my mechanic, Healey jaguar specialist) pulled the carbs off to rebuild them when I inadvertently found a local fellow who was moving back to Australia and was selling his 66 roadster. (it had to be right hand drive and was subject to a 44% duty of appraised value to be imported into Australia). This car was running and driving and met my immediate phallic demands; consequently the coupe sat eventually getting a few scratches in the paint and basically being ignored. With new demands on my life, this car is not geting closer to being finished and the roadster now needs a pint job.
Vehicle Condition
The vehicle is basically as described. It is not running as the carbs are still off. It needs minor assembly, ie: the bumber put back on and the side windows. The mileage is 57,000, but I have no idea whether that is correct or not. However, I do understand how hard it is to find a rust free XKE and what it costs to repair one, if it ever is the same as an original rust free car. The car now has five or six chips in the paint, nothing serious but annoying. The car ran reasonably well before the carbs were removed ( one float was sticking) but has not run since 1998. The car has always had indoor storage. Gas tank door is not painted. Please ask questions before bidding.

The ad is in the public domain, as is the details of the car as published. We do NOT record any owner information (names, addresses, etc.) for that very reason.
