Sellers description:
Just in for restoration, is this barn find Series I, 4.2 liter E-type fixed head coupe. 1965 is the first year the 4.2 liter engine was put into the E-types. You can't find E-types like this car any more. Look at the photos to see how nice and complete the car is excluding the bonnet. All the small detail items i.e. screws are with the car. The interior is the original and it is like it was kept in a time capsule. It actually has some use left in it. The headliner is in good shape and the seats are in good condition. The factory Jaguar seat belts are still in the car. This E-type came from the factory in Jet Black with the red interior. All the Tripex glass is still in the car and in good condition. On top of all this the car starts up and runs when an auxiliary tank of gas is used (the original tank needs to be cleaned out before using). The brakes will need gone through as the car has been sitting for some time . This car is a great example to work with on a restoration. The previous owner had taken the bonnet off to strip it and that's as far as he got.

Nice to see another very early 4.2 headed for the restoration shop. The interior shares many of the 3.8's features that were deleted or changed early in the 4.2's production. It appears that the console is from a later car, since this one should have the leather shift boot from the 3.8, which used a different pressing for the console. Hope this one receives the restoration it deserves.
