For sale at Fender Broad Classic Cars of Bristol. Seller's description below. The URL is

'The one to have'. We have owned many E Types and this is the one to own. Series I 4.2 litre is the perfect blend of usability and original early body style. The car is a rare original right hand drive car retaining its correct chassis and original registration. It is probably not the original engine but it is the correct type.

The car was restored around the millennium in the style of a period E type race car. If the E Type is as agreed the most beautiful and sleek car ever made then this is the naked interpretation of that stunning shape. The chrome bumpers were removed and seems skilfully removed too. The effect is a very sleek and quite stunning shape devoid of glitz, glitter and jewellery in favour of a pure stunning 'naked' shape. We have pictured the car next to our Tony Shaw racer and the cars compliment each other perfectly.

The restoration in this form would have been a very expensive affair. The quality is confirmed as after all these years the car presents without fault. The bodywork is blemish free and the panel fit perfect. Mechanically the engine holds excellent oil pressure and there are numerous upgrades to improve braking, cooling and general reliability. The car sits well on C Type peg wheels and Pirelli Cinturato tyres. Some may refurbish the interior, others would love it just the way it is.

Supplied with the car is a JDHT certificate confirming the car's status as an original RHD car carrying its original number plate. The colour was white with red trim. There are MoTs back to the 1980s and a huge file of bills supporting the restoration and maintenance of this car.

Coming to the market for the first time in 15 years and sold with a fresh MoT and 12 months warranty this series 1 4.2 E Type looks beautiful and engages the driver in a quite intoxicating way that only a true E Type can.

Now for auction at Coys in July 2017
www.coys.co.uk/cars/1968-jaguar-e-type-series-1-roadster-4-2

Lot 141 - 1968 Jaguar E Type Series 1 Roadster 4.2
Original Right Hand Drive
ESTIMATE £90,000-£110,000

This original right hand drive car was manufactured on 26th February 1968 and delivered with cream paintwork and a black interior; the car was then exported to Australia before being repatriated to the UK in 1970. The car was resprayed red and was subject to a thorough restoration in 1994 and has been well maintained since.

Work includes Coopercraft front brakes, uprated suspension and a 123 electronic distributor. The engine was professionally rebuilt in 2009 and a stainless steel exhaust system was fitted.

It had a new Suffolk and Turley hood and the hood frame was also refurbished at this time. Recent work includes rebuilt rear brakes, rebuilt shock absorbers, new hoses, new chrome bumpers and wheels with new Pirelli Cinturato tyres.

Said to have an excellent panel fit and drive very well, this original UK delivered car comes with a valid MOT, large history file and V5C registration document.

Note: There is no mention that the previous work on the car has been abandoned and it has been put back to being a standard S1 car. Also there appear to be no Series 1.5 features on the car which might have been expected.

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
