This 1966 Jaguar XKE is a Series I roadster that was completed on March 24, 1966 and was acquired around six years ago by the seller, reportedly from the second owner of three decades. Finished in Opalescent Silver Grey with a black soft top over red leather, the car is powered by a numbers-matching 4.2-liter inline-six paired with a four-speed manual transmission. Additional features include glass headlight covers, polished knock-off wire wheels, and four-wheel disc brakes. This Series I XKE is being offered with a Jaguar Heritage Trust Certificate, a tool kit, shop manuals, model literature, and a clean Maryland title in the seller’s name.

The car came factory-finished in Opalescent Silver Grey and is said to have been repainted in 2018. Features include a replacement black soft top, as well as a driver’s side-view mirror, glass headlight covers, twin exhaust outlets, and chrome bumpers and trim. The seller notes that matching cloth and vinyl tonneau covers will accompany the vehicle.

The polished 15” wire wheels feature two-eared knock-off spinners and are wrapped in Pirelli Cinturato radial tires that were replaced in 2017 per the seller. Stopping power is provided by four-wheel discs with inboard-mounted rears, and the seller reports that the brake hydraulics have been refreshed under current ownership. A full-size spare is found in the trunk.

The cabin is trimmed in red leather with matching door panels, carpets, and a black dashboard. Amenities include a sliding rear-view mirror, a glove compartment, and toggle switches for vehicle functions.

A wood-rimmed three-spoke steering wheel frames Smiths instrumentation that includes a 6k-rpm tachometer, a 160-mph speedometer, and auxiliary gauges for coolant temperature, oil pressure, fuel level, and amperage. The five-digit odometer shows just under 34k miles, around 7k of which have been added during current ownership. Total mileage is unknown, and the seller reports that the analog clock is inoperable.

The 4.2-liter DOHC inline-six was factory-rated at 265 horsepower and 283 lb-ft of torque, which is sent to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transmission. Features include triple SU carburetors along with Pertronix electronic ignition that was installed in 2017. The radiator was reportedly replaced during prior ownership and the clutch hydraulics are said to have received an overhaul in 2015. The oil pan gasket and water pump were replaced in 2018, and routine annual maintenance was performed in 2020. The seller notes the presence of an oil leak.

Cylinder stamping number 7E8557-9 matches the number listed on the underhood identification plate, and shown on the engine. The exhaust system is said to have been replaced in 2016.

The Jaguar-Daimler Heritage Trust certificate shows factory colors, identification numbers, and a build date of March 24, 1966.
