Lot #137234

This 1974 Jaguar E-Type Series III roadster is powered by a Chevrolet 350ci V8 linked with a three-speed automatic transmission and a limited-slip differential. The car is finished in burgundy over tan leather, and features include a tan soft top, a top boot, an Edelbrock carburetor, four-wheel disc brakes, power steering, 15” knock-off wire wheels, a wood-rimmed Nardi steering wheel, a CD stereo, and air conditioning. The current owner acquired the car in 2017. This Series III E-Type is now offered in Connecticut on dealer consignment with a clean New York title.

The seller indicates that the car was repainted in burgundy under prior ownership. Features include a tan soft top, a matching top boot, uncovered headlights, a forward-hinged louvered hood, chrome bumpers, a driver-side mirror, four exhaust outlets, and a power antenna. Repair marks on the convertible top are pictured in the gallery below along with imperfections on the top and the top boot.

Chrome-finished 15″ wire-spoke wheels are secured with knock-off spinners and are mounted with 215/70 Michelin MXV4 tires. The Series III E-Type was factory equipped with power steering, and stopping power is provided by four-wheel disc brakes with inboard rear rotors.

The cabin features seating surfaces upholstered in tan leather as well as color-coordinated door panels and carpeting. A JVC CD head unit has been installed below the shelf located behind the driver seat. Other appointments include air conditioning, a heater, black rubber floor mats, a center armrest, and a wood Jaguar-branded knob on an aftermarket shifter. Wear on the driver seat and other imperfections are visible.

A wood-rimmed Nardi steering wheel frames Smiths instrumentation including a 160-mph speedometer and a tachometer with a 6,500-rpm redline. An analog clock along with auxiliary gauges for battery voltage, oil pressure, coolant temperature, and fuel level are positioned in the center stack. The five-digit odometer shows 84k miles, approximately 800 of which were added under current ownership; true mileage is unknown.

The Chevrolet 350ci V8 was installed under prior ownership in place of the factory V12 engine. Equipment includes an Edelbrock carburetor, an Edelbrock air cleaner, Jaguar-branded chrome valve covers, an Edelbrock ignition amplifier, a Mallory distributor, and a Holley air-conditioning compressor. The oil was changed in 2023.

Casting number 14016379 on the engine block corresponds with a late-1970s Chevrolet 350.

Power is sent to the rear wheels through a three-speed automatic transmission and a limited-slip differential. The dual exhaust system ends at a quad-exit finisher beneath the rear bumper.

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
