This LHD manual 1974 Jaguar E Type Series III Roadster is showing 175kms on the odometer today.
It was, we believe, first registered in the UK in 2004 and last earned a UK MoT certificate on 24.6.04, when the odometer reading was recorded, rightly or wrongly, as being 47,003.
We have no way of challenging or validating either of the odometer readings for the car, but we’re fairly confident it’s covered rather more than 175kms, despite its very good condition.
We haven’t started or driven the car, so we can only assess it on its cosmetic condition.
In common with many vehicles from the vendor’s collection, the car comes no history or service records, although it does have a copy of an old UK V5 registration document.
We’re not sure when it entered the vendor’s collection of static display vehicles.
On the Outside
The bodywork is very good and is free of any dinks, dents, creases or folds of any real significance.
Very unusually, this car comes complete with both the removable hard-top and the soft-top roof.
We have removed the hard-top (which detached and re-attached without any difficulties) and lowered and raised the soft-top which, although a bit creased and crumpled, is otherwise absolutely fine and in pretty decent condition.
So, too, is the glossy black paintwork, which has seemingly not been exposed to very much of anything at all.
The hard-top has some cracks in the paint and a scratch. It also has a blacked-out rear screen.
The wire wheels, lights and badging are all good.
There are one or two stone chips and couple of small, shallow indentations on the bonnet.
The chrome is mostly good all round, aside from a very small dink in the front bumper.
There are some small scuffs and scratches on the passenger door and the paint has rubbed away on the edges of the doors and in places on the edge of the bodywork where it meets the bonnet.
There’s a crack in the paint on the side panel where it meets the bottom of the passenger door, which is currently reluctant to open from the outside.
On the Inside
The interior is in very good condition and looks highly original and authentic as far as we can tell.
The tan leather seats have held up very well and are comfortable, supportive and functional.
The door cards are also in good order and the linings of both the hard-top and soft-top have endured the vicissitudes of time and use with commendable stoicism.
The dashboard is fine and, aside from a little glue visible in places, so too is the steering wheel.
The carpets and mats are dirty and a little moth-eaten in places.
Some of the interior rubber trim has come loose.
The boot seems to be in decent order and contains a jack and wheel mallet.
We can’t make any claims about the full functionality of switches, knobs, levers, toggles, buttons, dials or other electrics as we haven’t started or driven the car.
Underneath
The clean, dry engine and engine bay look fine and the undersides of the car appear to have plenty of structural integrity.
History Highlights
This car comes with no history and no service records.
It must be registered in the country of your choice and you will need to contact the appropriate vehicle licensing agency for instructions on how to do this.
No documents shown in any way constitute any kind of licensing or registration certification unless otherwise stated.
